Matt Jacob replied on June 19, 2009 22:45 to the problem "Palm Pre email updates" in Ping.fm:
It seems like this issue isn't just limited to Palm Pres anymore. I attached a picture from my Gmail account a few minutes ago, and it didn't make it through. The file size of that picture was 1.5M.
I was able to send a picture from Gmail earlier today that worked fine, but its file size was only 866K. That seems consistent with my earlier theory that images greater than about 1M aren't getting through. It might just be a fluke, and I haven't done enough testing to confirm it, but it sure seems like it.
This isn't a huge problem, of course, but I'm gonna hold off posting photos until it's fixed. I end up looking stupid when I describe something in a picture that doesn't exist.

I just tried sending another photo, and still no dice. The text of the update came through, but no link. – Matt Jacob, on June 08, 2009 21:53

Matt Jacob replied on May 27, 2009 06:00 to the question "Will you be supporting posting on wordpress blogs that is not hosted in wordpress.com domain?" in Ping.fm:
Hi there,
There's unofficial support for it right now! (And there has been for about a year or so.) This is shameless self-promotion, but since it solves your problem exactly, check out my WordPress plugin:

And, if you have any suggestions or feature requests, I'm all ears.
Matt

You have to add the Custom URL 'network' at Ping.fm, and then you'll be able to plug in your own URL.

Thanks for the link. Those icons are very nice. I'm now using the replacements in place of the default icon. Much better on the eyes. ;-) – Matt Jacob, on April 24, 2009 21:25
Matt Jacob replied on April 24, 2009 18:32 to the idea "Maybe better and nicer Dock Icon..." in atebits:
I agree that the icons could use some work. The aesthetic is just off for me. My initial thought about the dock icon was, "What the heck is this boxy purple thing?" The menu bar icon is equally vague and calls too much attention to itself when lit up. Something more subtle (like Apple's Bluetooth icon) would be appreciated.
I'm not sure what exactly needs to change for the dock icon, but it doesn't feel very Mac-like to me. When I Cmd-Tab, I see a bunch of photorealistic icons... and then this purple gradient that feels too small or too disproportionate (the pointer arrow is rather large).
Anyway, don't want to beat a dead horse here, so keep up the good work and think about investing in a better set of icons in the vein of other great Mac apps (Cha-Ching, Transmit, AppShelf's new one, LittleSnapper, Postbox, Transmission, VirtualBox, Espresso, etc.).-
