A couple things:
1. Go to your Ping.fm Custom URL settings at https://ping.fm/custom/ and make sure the boxes are checked next to "use for:".
2. Check your WP database and make sure the 'wp_pingfm' table exists. I've seen problems where this table doesn't get created when the user doesn't have CREATE privs or when an old version of MySQL is used.
3. If all else fails, I can give you a PHP script to test the plugin in an isolated way without even bringing in Ping.fm. It uses cURL to do a simple HTTP POST to your plugin.

There are fairly detailed installation instructions available. Have you read those yet?

Is my plugin missing a feature you're looking for, or does it flat out not work for you?

Matt Jacob replied on September 03, 2008 18:42 to the problem "Link shortening shorting out?" in Ping.fm:
Matt Jacob reported a problem in Ping.fm on September 03, 2008 08:39:
Link shortening shorting out?Link shortening appears to be broken. With the option to "Shorten links in posts" checked, links that would normally be shortened aren't getting shortened today for whatever reason. For example, this URL is a great candidate, but it just gets left alone: http://www.fuelly.com/driver/mjacob/g...
Is anyone else having this problem, or is it just me? It doesn't matter whether I post from IM or the web---the problem stays the same.

Version 0.9.4 is locked and loaded!
Improvements include:
- Better resiliency when moving the plugin files around to different directories under /wp-content/plugins
- The ability to edit the widget's CSS text colors (Edit link on activated widget panel = widget settings)
- A couple minor fixes and speed enhancements
All in all, we're rolling right along towards 1.0.0. Expect it around the end of this month. In the meantime, keep pointing out bugs (which are actually features) and suggestions!
Thanks to everyone who has tried out the plugin so far. :-)

It looks like what you want is actually this plugin:

Note: I did not write that plugin, nor am I affiliated with it in any way. – Matt Jacob, on August 14, 2008 22:02

Just in case you didn't see the other thread(s) started by different people, the mythical plugin you speak of now exists. We're at version 0.9.4 and getting better every day, with 1.0.0 scheduled for the end of this month.

A comment on the problem "Just looking for something reliable that I can update on the go..." in Ping.fm:
That must be something that your cell phone carrier is adding, because Ping.fm certainly isn't adding that to the footer of email updates! – Matt Jacob, on August 13, 2008 06:52

You might have a unique problem that's not immediately obvious to me. Toss me an email at 123matt555@mattjacob.com and I'll see if I can figure out what's going wrong. Remove the numbers from that email address first. :-) If you have AIM, ping me: mattjacob1. – Matt Jacob, on August 12, 2008 17:08
A comment on the idea "Wordpress?" in Ping.fm:
That sometimes happens to me too, but I can't pinpoint the problem. What should happen is that Ping.fm should queue the update and keep trying to send it a certain number of times until it receives an OK status from the plugin. That would ensure that no updates are lost. – Matt Jacob, on August 12, 2008 07:04

If select "ping my blogs" in the dropdown menu on your Ping.fm dashboard (http://ping.fm/dashboard/), both the title and the body should get posted to your blog. Try that and let me know if you're still not getting the expected result. – Matt Jacob, on August 11, 2008 05:13

We're at 98% right now. Unfortunately, I have a prior obligation I need to attend to this afternoon, but I'll finish up a couple things and make a release tonight on the WP plugins site:
