A comment on the question "Does anyone have ANY way to email Netflix?" in Netflix:
It's not email, but you can easily use Twitter from work: Netflix customer service on Twitter. They always respond there when you have a problem (Within 24 hrs on business days). – Matthew, on July 23, 2009 21:25
A comment on the question "Does anyone have ANY way to email Netflix?" in Netflix:
In that scenario, you need to go into "Your Account", and "Instant Watch History". Then, click the title to "Report a Problem", and you can tell them exactly what was broken about it. I've done this quite often.
Also, to be sure you get a response: Netflix customer service on Twitter. – Matthew, on July 23, 2009 21:23
Matthew replied on July 23, 2009 21:19 to the idea "Data Ownership & Portability" in Netflix:
Two options for getting this data:
Feedfliks lists it all, once you connect with them for free.
This site grabs all your ratings in one swoop, and allows you to leave them as a text file, or make a spreadsheet with them:
Netflix Ratings Grabber
Hope those help, son.
Matthew shared an idea in Netflix on July 23, 2009 21:13:
Streaming Soon on Netflix Watch Instantly
I co-run a new site for Netflix users called "Streaming Soon". We track upcoming new releases to Watch Instantly (With the collective help of the community) to save you disc rentals.
We list them by month, and at the bottom of the page, we list "just released" titles that were in our database to begin with.
Check it out, and if you find anything to add, feel free to reply here, there or on our Twitter :)
Thanks!
And be sure to check out these inspiring Netflix sites as well (Inspiring in that Netflix is beloved by many, and it's amazing to see the creations people have come up with using Netflix's API). These are the best Netflix bookmarks I have, hands down:
Feedfliks - Shows you your Netflix activity for the lifetime of your account, lists every review and the day you wrote it, and even how long you've held a DVD out!
Netflix Instant Watch Tracker - Provides a very thorough listing of every new release to streaming, the second it's added. Lots of sort-ability as well.
Matthew replied on July 23, 2009 21:04 to the idea "Let us add notes to our queue/returns" in Netflix:
You can do this from movie detail pages. Just click "Leave Note" beside "What your friends thought", and you then check the box that says "Send a copy to yourself". That way, the note goes only to you (If you want it to). It'll show on the movie detail page any time you return to it in the future.
Also, Feedfliks just added this feature to their own site, and you can view your entire list of rented movies and go to each to leave a note. All notes are then accessible on Feedfliks itself.
A comment on the question "Films recently added to the database?" in Flickchart:
I like his idea... it'd be cool to see that (Such as the newest 50 additions listed on a page). – Matthew, on July 23, 2009 21:00-

Matthew replied on July 15, 2009 02:06 to the question "Does Netflix only allow you to watch movies instantly once?" in Netflix:
No, you can watch the same films or TV shows again. To my knowledge, after watching them they are to stay in your Instant Queue until you delete them. But I normally watch them on my Roku Digital Video Player, so I am used to deleting them from the list after watching (You may be watching on your computer or some other way, and I have not done that in quite some time, so I can't remember how it works - i.e. if rating or watching it makes it disappear from your Q).
If they aren't in your Instant Queue, you can simply re-add them and watch them again, as many times as you want!
Have fun.-

A comment on the question "Flickchart on Facebook?" in Flickchart:
I definitely came here looking for that too... it could post my ratings for the day to Facebook, kind of like how Netflix posts your recent movie ratings on Facebook. – Matthew, on July 14, 2009 01:09-

Matthew replied on July 02, 2009 02:12 to the problem "Browsing pre-signup is misleading" in Netflix:
The following sites will help you in determining what all is available on Watch Instantly (Especially helpful to members, because it's easier to manipulate, sort and manage than the RSS feeds or the information on Netflix.com):
Netflix Instant Watch Tracker (Sortable in many ways, and it's my absolute favorite).
An alternative Instant Watch database... a lot more cluttered, but with lots of information to boot.

Matthew replied on June 28, 2009 23:21 to the problem "Missing Movies Causing Emotional Distress" in Flickchart:
There should be a single form on the site dedicated to briefing them on missing films, rather than posting them all here in multiple threads.

I could keep going, but I would be here for a while. These are mainly based on my recent rentals... with the site moving at its current pace, I can't do anymore.
Matthew replied on June 28, 2009 14:30 to the idea "Manual Drag" in Flickchart:
I dunno... I think the point is that you prove to yourself 'Maybe I didn't like Indiana Jones as much as I thought I did', by rating other things higher or lower. You may have 100 favorite films, so being #99 might not be such a bad thing, if you still consider it a favorite.
Even if you dragged #101 up into the top 10, what's to say your rankings (After 20 clicks or less) would not put it right back down into the #100-200 range again?
For me, Manual Drag would defeat the purpose of having a site where you rank by elimination.
I found out this morning though, you can go to individual movie listings (By finding the title in a search) and ranking it from its page. So maybe that could take some of the work out of getting it where you want. It's not a solution to what you want, but it would help.
A comment on the problem "Database needs to be larger" in Flickchart:
Good list. I see some there I'd like to be able to rate. – Matthew, on June 28, 2009 14:25

Thank you, I'm glad this got added. I'm new to the service (As of last night). – Matthew, on June 28, 2009 14:24
A comment on the idea "Remove "Haven't Seen" for Previously Ranked Movies" in Flickchart:
I also accidentally clicked "Haven't seen" twice, and skipped a movie I had seen. This is my issue with the system. Not to mention if I DO see the movie this past weekend and decide I want to rank it today. – Matthew, on June 28, 2009 14:10
A comment on the question "Anyone getting cracked Blue-ray discs?" in Netflix:
Man, that sucks :( I know you don't want to hear my side, but at least in my area (NC) I have never gotten a broken disc, and I've received many Blu-ray discs.
Have you talked to them over the phone? What did they say (Contact Post Office, or something else?)?
They also have a Twitter account, where you can chat with them online about the frequent issue. It shouldn't be happening.
Here is their Twitter Page: http://twitter.com/Netflixhelps They usually respond within 1 day, and are friendly. – Matthew, on June 18, 2009 21:23
Matthew replied on June 08, 2009 23:48 to the problem "The movie 'Scurge' has been hacked." in Netflix:
Did you report the problem to Netflix? It's easy, just go to this link: Customer Service and click Watching Instantly.
The movie title will be on that list, and you just click on it to report the designated problems with the title.
Also, if you have a Twitter account (Free service), you can send them them a quick message here: Netflix Helps on Twitter. They'll respond.
