MediaShout FAQ replied on December 24, 2009 17:19 to the question "Text Editing Issue In Win7" in MediaComplete:

Dave Fry, Dec 24 11:19 am (CST):
After working with Greg, it appears that the majority of his problems were due to bugs in the implementation of the text editing tools when the Font DPI settings are set to 125% (Medium). After switching to 100% most of the tools worked correctly. This has been reported as a bug and is being addressed. Until then, users will need to use the 100% DPI setting for maximum reliability.

Hey.
I've been testing this is my MediaShout and have recreated the problem. It doesn't hold the settings in mine as well. It isn't designed to transfer the media files, but it should retain formatting like font, size, etc. Mine did NOT retain these things. So, it looks like I'm seeing a bug.
I will forward this onto my superiors so that they can flag it as a possible bug to get fixed in a future build. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
Thanks.

I understand your situation -- my church is in the same place. But God's at work in and through us. I pray the same for your fellowship as well. Have a blessed and merry CHRISTmas!!
Richard Stoner, Dec 21 09:21 pm (CST):
Dave, thanks for getting back to me. I will check it out on Christmas eve as that
is the soonest I will be back to church. I had Best Buy install the card when I
purchased the PC about two months ago. I think the drivers are installed because the ATI
icon is in the system tray and when you click on it the menu opens that allows you to
configure it but I will look. It's very sad that I can't play videos or animation with
Shout. I really love your program. It does what you say, it brings life's most
important message to life. I'm thinking about upgrading to vr4 but at this time we can't
afford the cost. Were a large church with a small congregation at this time. My prayer
is that with the help of Shout 3.5 we may be able to grow our numbers. I'll drop you a
line on Thursday with the info you asked for but I understand that you probably won't get
back to me until Monday.
Happy Birth Day Jesus and have a great time with your family the season.

Richard, I'd like to be of assistance. From reviewing the dialog so far it sounds like it's possible that either one of your video cards is not fully compatible with DirectX 9, or the drivers are not installed correctly.
What are the models of each of your video cards (you can get this from the 'Name' section of the Display tabs in dxdiag - see attached picture)? Check each Display tab and send me the name of each display card.
If no name is present, the the drivers are not installed correctly (or at all!). That will cause Windows to default to a lowest-common-denominator generic video driver which will not work with DX9. I rather suspect this is the issue.
Let me know what you find out. Thanks!

Thx for checking, the previous date's backup worked fortunately. It took loading the stock db and then restoring the backup. There was a backup on that last day, but it was from the file I sent so it was no good either.
I appear to be good to go now, just wondering if it will happen again

I got a response from Nathan. He said that he couldn't look at the database because there was no data there to test. It looks like the database was erased or something. I'm not sure what would have done that. It's weird. Whatever happened actually erased the data. It's good though that you were able to recover what you could.

Hi, Andrew.
I forwarded this on to my IT Director to see if there is anything he can do for it. I don't know why it happened. There is no way for me to know that. MediaShout doesn't normally do that itself. I imagine an event on the computer caused this somehow. If you used the backup files already, then it should get any songs that were in the backup file. There is no other way to get that back unless you made your own separate backup of the song file.
I will let you know when I hear something from Nathan (IT Director) about your old database.
Thanks.

Marshall, Andrew, Dec 21 10:46 am (CST):
Last night I was finally able to get this resolved to an extent by selecting the stock song library, and then restoring with an older backup.
This gets all but the last day's additions and changes to my song database, which I can live with. But I'm curious as to why this happened and if it is possible to get my last day's changes restored fwiw.
I have attached a zip file with that day's datbase, which MS says is inaccessible (as if it is on an unavailable drive, which it's not).

Jeff, I'd love to help you with this issue. Is there a time when I can call you and log into your computer to see what is going on? I'm in the office 9-5:30 Central time. Let's get together and see if this is something simple, or if we need to report something as a bug. Thanks!

Dave Fry, Dec 17 06:09 pm (CST):
Guys, I have seen cases where the various font dropdown menus displayed incorrectly in Win7 64bit. Having quickly scanned the thread, it appears that may be the explanation for some of the behavior that is being reported. If that is the case, it is definitely due to a bug--not operator error. The 'proper' behavior of the text editing controls are not perfectly intuitive to every user, though, so it's possible a combination of factors are responsible.
I'd like to log into these machines and verify what the issue is rather than try to pick through paragraphs of verbose explanations. (A picture's worth way more than a thousand words!) That way we can be sure of what’s going on. If Greg will reply to his ticket, and jday will go to our Help Desk and open one up, we’ll work out a time to get with you both and look at this issue. Thanks!

Sure. That is not a problem. I can keep it posted as long as needed. I'm

Thanks for your help.
