Delay in creation of zone, and availability of zone for channelHi Folks,
I've noticed that there is a time delay, between the time I create a new zone, give myself admin privileges for it, and when it actually shows up in the menu to add to a new channel. It there some explanation for this?-

Hi Folks,
Have you had any reported problems of live video feeds from URLs getting stuck?
We have one running that cycles up to the live feed, then only shows the live feed until we hit 'escape' on the player. Setting the timing on the slide does not seem to matter.
Can you help me solve this mystery?
Thanks,
Megan

Hi Carousel folks, Just wondering what is happening with this. We just had someone call us and ask us to change there sign hours to reflect their new hours of operation and we can't because there is not enough control—Their Saturday and Sunday hours are different, but the controls don't allow users to fine tune.
This seems like an easy quick fix. Plus it's a big selling point—it means users can be more green by assuring the signs are off when no one is around.

Thanks for your help.
It appears as though approved bulletins can also be copied/moved to any other zone the user has access to, thereby bypassing the approval step. Maybe you could double check on this for me?
I was hoping that someone who submitted a bulletin and had it approved, could then copy it, make a modification to display-dates for example, then resubmit it to be approved. Does that sound accurate?
Thanks,
Megan

Great. I was trying to figure out workarounds... I thought I could give people two accounts, one that would auto-authorize, and one that would be for submitting to other channels, but the problem with that is that it would require 2 different email accounts because carousel does not allow duplicate email addresses.
The other solution was giving someone below management, without the auto authorize feature an account, just for submitting. But then I have to give them access to managing zone bulletins, besides that, I thought they would probably still be able to copy auto-authorized bulletins anyway, and I'd be back to square one.

Big Problem with Auto Authorize PermissionHi Carousel,
I'm very concerned about the "auto authorize bulletins" permission setting. I've been working with someone there who was extremely helpful, the case # was 10277. But unfortunately the functionality problem that I am having is on your end.
The basic issue is this: I need the Auto Authorize function to work differently. I need it to ONLY Auto Authorize for Zones in which the user is intended to auto publish to, not ALL zones.
Here is the scenario: I have staff creating bulletins for Library zone 1, library management approve staff bulletins for Library zone 1 and library management can auto-publish to Library zone 1. I also want library management to be able to submit bulletins to Parking zone 1, but I don't want those bulletins to auto-publish. Instead I want parking management to be asked to approve those submitted bulletins or not. But that's not the way auto authorize works.
The absurd thing is that once bulletins are approved by library management, staff could then submit bulletins to parking zone 1, and parking management would have the approval step. Staff actually end up having more power to submit bulletins than management.
I want my users to be able to share content, but I can't have anyone auto-publishing to channels that they aren't in control of. The auto authorize function needs to only apply to the channel, not all channels. If I want users to be able to share content now, I will have to have management ask staff to submit their bulletins to other channels, or I will have to create a secondary account that is only used to submit bulletins to other channels.
At any rate the way your permissions are set up right now is misleading. If you look at the structure of it, it does not imply that Auto Authorize means, that all bulletins created by a user with that setting will auto-publish to all zones they have access to.
Please consider revising the way Auto Authorize is functioning. The way it is now is not very functional is situations like mine where I have many channels with many users with various permissions that need to share content.
Thanks,
Megan

Exceptions when Scheduling Bulletins in CarouselHere is a question from one of our users (Marlayna): I have some bulletins that show service hours on specific days. Due to holidays, we sometimes have exceptions and I would need a different bulletin to display on that day. Is there a way to put the exceptions in the queue so I don’t have to think about it? It also means that the bulletin that normally displays that day would be suppressed.
megan replied on August 12, 2009 23:38 to the question "Permissions Question about "Create - Submit Bulletins to this Zone"" in Tightrope Media Systems:
Okay, so I discovered that this is an Auto Authorize problem, I think. Can you tell me if Auto Authorize means for all Zones a user has access to even if they only have access in a limited way? That is how it appears to me.
This is a problem... I need the user to be able to submit bulletins to their zone, and have them auto authorize, and then be able to submit bulletins to other zones and not have them auto authorize.
Any suggestions here?

Permissions Question about "Create - Submit Bulletins to this Zone"Hi. I want some users to be able to submit bulletins to other zones, but it is important that those bulletins that are submitted not auto publish. I've created an account with limited permissions, and I thought that it was working, but people are submitting bulletins to zones and somehow jumping the approval step. I believe they are copying already approved bulletins to other zones, which is not what I want.
Will "Create - Submit Bulletins to this Zone" allow users to auto publish? Is that just built into this permission? If it is, I think you should rethink that feature.

megan replied on August 07, 2009 17:30 to the question "Carousel Account Permissions for setting up zones" in Tightrope Media Systems:
Jesse/John,
Jesse, That is what I am doing also. I give users permissions for zones, which is fine for most users. But some of our departments on campus are EXTREMELY tech savvy and they should have total control over there channel, so they can do testing, design, and redesign whenever they like without having me as an obstacle. The way we are using the system departments on campus are purchasing channels and they can choose to share content if they want, have the campus-wide design, or have their own. Also I don't dictate what the content is, or who has access.
If I could give admin privileges for a specific channel, then tech savvy departments (in this case CalIT2) could determine their own permissions settings for their channel as well as determine their own zone settings. For them this would be especially useful sense they are trying to test the interactivity functions of the software which is very different from they way that other departments are using their signage.
Also, it is a real headache for me to have to set up numerous accounts for a large number of departments. The idea of using one account for a group of people is unrealistic because it is important to identify who-specifically created a bulletin. (I'm grumbling about this, but I supposes that if you did have this feature, then I would have to teach everyone how to set up accounts, so I'm not sure that is any easier.) = )
John, it would be nice if you could build a little more control into Carousel to make this fine-grained control of channels possible. Maybe it wouldn't be for all users, but only in special cases.
Thanks for the information.

A suggestion here. I think you really need to spell out more clearly in your manual, or somewhere, what the various setting for RSS feeds do. Do you already have this somewhere? The difference between bulletins, items, and max items... If the RSS feed is long, how do I stop it from going through several screens of the same item? Too many variable for this to be super obvious.

Broadcasting Carousel via a RG6 network?? HELPDear John, JJ, broadcast techs,
One of our customers has existing displays with built in ATSC tuners and we would like to know if a player exist to broadcast via an RG6 network a modulated HD signal to channel 3.1 on each display?
If I could get some feedback on this it would be very helpful. If you have more questions about this could you call Ernie our AV Engineer at 858-354-8498.
Thanks,
Megan
