has this been fioxed yet - I can personalise the welcome text in vertical response and survey moneky but not pbWiki and that's the most powerful editor of them all. Keen to get answers on this one. – Todd, on October 09, 2008 13:51-

No matter how professional your invite message is, it won't do me any good for those people who don't speak English.
Plus, I have to be able to control the email used to send the message, since I use different addresses for different people.
I don't want to get into creating dummy accounts in order to handle registration for them - I've already tested this, and it's a nightmare. Besides, it's ridiculous that people are forced to "join" PBwiki to participate in a wiki.
The only solution for me as things now stand is to write my own invite, which will have to include a non-English tutorial on what they have to do to register, which also means having to translate what they'll see on each page. The hassle factor is really very high. Add to that the clunkiness of working with PBwiki (e.g., moving pages to folders), and it's got me looking for alternatives that are equally friendly for my computer-phobic users.

Yep. I boycott Plaxo and the rest of that spammer crowd. And a person who adds me to their account at any of those services runs the risk of having all their emails permanently junked. Plus, if I ever receive any mail from one of their other "contacts" that I don't personally know, there goes the relationship with that person: straight to the bozo bin. – TexasT, on May 31, 2008 20:26

Thanks for your willingness to respond to our collective requests.
I appreciate the complications of having a spam-resistant invite message but it is worth the work to permit customization because it would allow the author to have far greater impact with the invitee.
Take a look at wikispaces to see how they have combined fixed text with a customizeable paragraph. http://www.wikispaces.com
The fixed text should be boringly factual without any cuteness or cleverness.
Thanks again

Quick question for folks - I'm hearing pretty broadly that the text as is is not appropriate for a work environment. While it will take some engineering to add a spam-resistant customizeable invite message, we can very quickly drop in different fixed text. (We're still going to be doing this engineering, I just want to get a better solution in people's hands as fast as possible.)
So, any suggestions on how the invite email should be phrased to be both professional and effective in getting the recipient to confirm?

I agree with every one. I sent an email invite out to a new client as I presumed it would be fairly neutral. It was not. It was cutesy and it was completely the wrong message. Please let us have the opportunity to personalise the email invite as quickly as possible.
How will we know when it is up and running...

The first time I invited my first test user to my v2 site, the invite email was automatically routed to the comcast spam filter of the test user's account.
I agree with the other posters that the current text is inappropriate for anyone that is using pbwiki for professional colleagues or clients.
If there are significant complications to allowing the administrator to edit this text, it would be good customer relations for pbwiki staff to indicate these complications.
Otherwise it appears to be a very quick short term project to modify the code to allow edits of the invite email.
Currently I will create a pbwiki name and password for all users and send them a personal email in order to bypass the current pbwiki invite text.
