Hi Baraider,
I did that google query and found that most of the results that had nothing to do with a masters in financial engineering. One of the google results even directed me to a page of over 20 different definitions for the acronym "MFE".
Much as Google has decided that MFE does not just mean one thing, it appears that our algorithms, which are similarly based on data found in the wild, respect the multiple definitions. Perhaps a robust view of the term MFE should encompass many meanings.
Seem reasonable?

HI baraider,
Looks like the topic "mfe" means different things to different people. For example: http://www.google.com/search?q=define...
For the "mfe" in question, it appears to stand for "mail for exchange".

Phillip, that is very perplexing. I've discussed your issue with some of our more experienced engineers here and they're at a loss for a good answer.
Unfortunately the add-on installation process is not something that add-on developers can control or debug particularly well. I hate to pass the buck, but your next step may be to bring this up with the Mozilla community for additional support.
I hope they're able to help and I'd love to hear back if you make progress on this issue.
Mikes replied on December 01, 2009 16:44 to the question "How do I configure Xmarks to open a link in a new tab (Firefox)?" in Xmarks:
Hi Jack, that's a good suggestion but it's not one that's implemented by our add-on. Xmarks is your tool for syncing and backing up your bookmarks, but we don't really have anything to do with when your browser chooses to open new tabs.
I googled around, however, and found a good discussion on MetaFilter on this topic. Sounds like a couple of other add-ons add this piece of functionality. Check it out: http://ask.metafilter.com/18892/firef...
Mikes replied on December 01, 2009 04:45 to the question "Stand Alone Xmarks For Sensitive Data (SAX-FSD)" in Xmarks:
Not only is it possible, but it's done. We have a Bring Your Own Server version of Xmarks that allows you to run your own synchronization server. There's more information on our blog at:

bmceown, I googled around for an answer for the 203 error and found a bunch of good sites addressing this Firefox issue. I thought this page was a good explanation:
http://www.askvg.com/how-to-fix-unexp...
As for the rest of the people, those very same instructions in that links are often offered as a solution for the addon-isn't-there-after-restart problem too.
Phillip, sorry to hear that your installation isn't working yet. I didn't mean to be glib when suggesting the answer that traditionally solves this problem. Note these add-on installation problems don't generally end up being an Xmarks specific problem but rather usually a Firefox add-on problem in general. Are you able to install other add-ons?
Mikes replied on November 30, 2009 22:40 to the problem "Sync Profiles Not Being Created" in Xmarks:
Kalani,
There's a known bug in our Add-on where if you enter the wrong password into the Profiles dialog (when trying to select a Profile), the dialog will just go away without any sort of error message or indication.
Is it possible that you created your profiles under a different account (email address) or that you're using an incorrect password?
Mikes replied on November 30, 2009 22:16 to the question "No Xmarks option in Firefox Tools menu, No Xmarks sync button on browser" in Xmarks:
Perhaps the installation of Xmarks on your laptop was not successful. In Firefox, check the "Tools" menu and see if there's an Xmarks section there. If not, you may wish to reinstall Xmarks from:

Mikes replied on November 27, 2009 16:59 to the problem "Bookmarks appear in all profiles despite the fact they were added using one actual profile" in Xmarks:
Hi Stephan, I think that's a perfectly reasonable approach. If you want your bookmarks sets on your work and home machines to be more different than the same, then having different accounts for them is probably closer to perfect than having different profiles. Profiles work best when mostly you want to the machines to be similar, with a specified list of exceptions.
I agree, however, that the perfect option doesn't exist here.

Mikes replied on November 26, 2009 00:05 to the problem "New Sync File Detected" in Xmarks:
This problem typically occurs when the bookmarks stored in the Xmarks server differ too drastically from the ones in the browser where you're getting this message. Try choosing the "download" option, although do note that this option will replace the bookmarks in your browser with the ones stored in the Xmarks server. Consequently, if you fear that those are too old, you may wish to save your in-browser bookmarks first, by exporting the bookmarks to an HTML file.
