The Updater software that we use has caused a few people this issue. We have been working with the provider to try and determine why this happens, but have not yet found a long term solution.
Removing the autoupdater from the Startup folder is the short term fix (as you discovered). I'll update this thread when we've got a longer term solution.
Thanks!

I am running version 1.0.2.01 and after every reboot RescueTimeStart.exe takes up 99% of my cpu.
RescueTime.exe is launched, runs fine and takes no (inappropriate) CPU.
What's really bad is that i cannot even kill RescueTimeStart.exe from the task manager!
I changed the shortcut in the startup folder from RescueTimeStart to RescueTime and I don't have troubles anymore. I just hope i'm not missing anything important if I don't run the starter.

I am using Version: 1.0.2.01 on windows , and my CPU utilization went up to 49% after rescuetime was running for around 2:30 hrs .. Further investigation using processexplorer by sysinternals , it shows that the process consumes 20 MB memory and 99% of 1 core (I have a core 2 deo machine with win xp) .. I have restarted my pc and rescuetime to check if it happens again ....-

Portable USB version of RescueTime Data Collector ??Hi,
I use 2 different PCS and have a complete portable apps suite on my USB drive, ( courtesy http://portableapps.com/ ) so that my programs and settings go with me whereever I go !!!! ..
It would be great to have a portable version of the RescueTime Data Collector .. with everything ( settings, exe , logs ) at a single location..
