Switched to version 2.x (That 2.8 sounded better Edwin!) and the problem seems to have gone away. I have no way of knowing if I am using the latest and greatest release though.

Unable to see my page after upgrading to 2.8
I just updated to version 2.8 and got the following after signing in:

Unable to access the feedly service because [reader][0002] failed to obtain user preferences.

Repeated sign in and out doesn't fix it.
