A comment on the update "Talk to us." in Songbird:
I have always wanted a way to see people's past topics in their dashboard. Right now they are mingled with replies people have made, and sometimes you have to do a lot of digging through them to find what you are looking for. I added love to that topic. – Murphy, on July 26, 2009 14:37-

Oh Michael, run away with me... :P
Truthfully, though, thank you so much for supporting the ideas. The past few months, I have spent more time being part of this community than anything I have been part of before. I always try to think up new ideas, and I just hope that even if they never become anything useable, they do change the way people think about the program, or motivate them to come up with other ideas. And thank you for tagging all of my threads- I have lost track of a few of them and forgot they even existed :D. I might have a few more I plan on making, but I do try to space them out a relatively evenly. I do hope that some years from now, when I have less to work on in life, I can learn how to code more and work on open-source projects like Songbird and Firefox, or become part of one of their teams so it is my job to come up with ideas all day and make them a reality.
And what is up with GetSatisfaction's search? It just doesn't seem to rank results by any of the usual properties like how recently the topic was made or posted in.-

I haven't posted in here in a while since Taskfox still hasn't been incorporated into the Firefox core, but I thought I would post an update for anyone who is still interested in the idea. The project is still being developed for Firefox, and you can even test it included in a beta version of Firefox here. It is definitely coming along. You can also see how the URL bar is getting glorified in Google Chrome in this blog post. I just like keeping up on how open-source projects are developing.
Most interesting, probably, have been the developments in this thread:

There has been good discussion and many mockups posted about improving the functionality of the awesome bar. Simon has even been working on an add-on so that having a more-unified navigation bar in Songbird may one day be possible.
A comment on the question "What's the bird's name?" in Songbird:
Actually, I was just trying to think of funny names. I am a little embarrassed to say that when I thought of the name "Thelonious" I thought back to the henchman from Shrek with the same name. And I just thought Martha was funny because orange-songbird isn't the manliest of birds. – Murphy, on July 25, 2009 23:20

Murphy replied on July 25, 2009 03:47 to the idea "Make a fusion between Miro and Songbird" in Songbird:
Miro and Songbird are so damn similar. I feel like they should at least link to each other's sites or something because most users would be interested in both. I don't like keeping and playing music and videos in the same program, so I also wish they would develop both fronts separately to maximize progress, but I am glad to see both open source projects flourishing.-

Murphy shared an idea in Songbird on July 25, 2009 02:33:
Import assistant- helping you import media into your libraryOne of my least favorite things to do in music programs is import music. You drag files or a folder into the program's window, and when you drop them, you aren't even always sure if anything happened; you usually just see a quick import progress bar show up. If you downloaded the songs, the metadata might be incorrect or missing, and you will have to scavenge your library to track them down. Even if you do find them labeled with the appropriate information, you often have to make a few changes like adding album art.
I think that there should be an "import assistant" in Songbird, that makes you more in control of the process of importing tracks. When you drag tracks into the Songbird window, it could visually change to look like a "drop site" so that the user gets the sure feeling that dropping tracks there will have the desired effect of importing them. Here I have the window getting darker and displaying the message "Import media" so you know what will happen.
Once you make the drop, a window could slide down just like the edit metadata window and let you make any changes you need to before importing the tracks. If you were importing a lot of tracks, like the first time you add your collection to your library, it would obviously need a scroll bar so you could see the entire list.
If you decided for some reason that you don't want to import a few of the tracks you dropped into the window, you could just uncheck them. You could then select any tracks with incorrect/missing metadata and fix them manually or retrieve the information from a web service like Gracenote. Also, you could input album art manually or retrieve it automatically from an online service. Once all of the tracks are ready, you could press the import button and finally import songs into your library with the confidence that they are ready to be there.-

Murphy replied on July 24, 2009 15:23 to the question "Treeview view of music library, grouped by artist?" in Songbird:
I like the idea of a tree-view media view; it would be compact, which would make the interface less cluttered and maybe even less memory-intensive. I think it should have a shortcut for expanding a tree very quickly, such as right arrow to expand and left arrow to collapse. That way, you could easily navigate your library using the keyboard; type-to-find an artist, expand the artist and album you want easily using the navigation arrows, and select the song you want.
Murphy replied on July 24, 2009 15:18 to the idea "Beat-matching songs to create a seamless flow" in Songbird:
Here is a popular suggestion for adding a BPM counter in Songbird, which would be a step in this direction: http://getsatisfaction.com/songbird/t...
If you search for "DJ", there are also a number of topics that talk about different DJ features that could be part of an add-on, but I didn't see any that suggested beat matching. It is a very neat idea, but I do think it would be very hard to code something that could accurately identify the beat at the end of a song and line it up with the beat at the beginning of another song.-
