    I think I did something similar, after I got everything back to normal I created a "Temp" folder in my music directory where I put new music into and then Songbird copies it over to the appropriate place in the music directory and I can delete it later. It's actually not a bad setup and Songbird did a good job renaming the -1 files back to what they should be, so thumbs up. – narmony, on July 23, 2009 01:25

    Hey, I searched around for this here and in Bugzilla and couldn't really find anyone who had had this particular problem, although the results are hard to parse through.

    Anyway, I just started using Songbird on Ubuntu yesterday and I already like it better than pretty much every other music player out there for Linux. The only problem I've had with it is in regards to Managing and Watching Folders.

    I set Songbird to Manage my collection. I then set it to watch my music folder for changes. I didn't realize this meant that Songbird was going to re-add every single song in my library back to my library so that now my entire library is duplicated. Fortunately it's only like 7GB, but still, that's like 1300 tracks I have to go delete from my library.

    Also, not only did Songbird duplicate the songs in my library, it made copies of these songs and then RENAMED the original files. So now I have duplicate files where the original ones with all my playcounts...have a 1 stuck on the end of their file names. Which means I have to turn on the file renaming part in manage music collection after I clear the duplicates so that I can get rid of the 1's at the end.

    This really is the worst part. If this is what happens when you Manage and Watch, it'd be great if Songbird added the 1 on the new file instead of on the old one.

    Sorry if this is a widely known problem or bug.
