A comment on the question "Juicy Library iPhone app?" in Delicious Monster:
@Carl DL has a very distinctive look and feel that I've not seen anywhere else, except for JL. Collectorz has a very different look and feel, as do Library thing, and other applications with related functions.
When you combine the extreme similarity of function and aesthetic and the very similar name, it becomes imitation, not evolution. You'll note that they actually have a disclaimer on their web site: "Please note that Juicy Library is not related to any other mac software." I suspect this would be unnecessary if there weren't so many similarities. – Noah Iliinsky, on October 29, 2009 19:30

@Carl Yes, if you don't have a Mac, DL is less appealing and JL, derivative though it is, is probably the better choice.
If you do have a Mac, you can scan with the built-in webcam; no need to buy anything else. – Noah Iliinsky, on October 29, 2009 18:14
A comment on the question "Juicy Library iPhone app?" in Delicious Monster:
@Carl As far as I can tell, the only feature that is unique to JL is the option to scan from the iPhone. The rest of the functions, aesthetic, and name, are clearly ripped off from Delicious Library. – Noah Iliinsky, on October 29, 2009 17:57

How about Architect? Looks handwritten, but remains clean. Not sure if it's on win/linux. – Noah Iliinsky, on May 22, 2009 20:26
