Thanks - we do have a bug for that in our system, http://bugzilla.pculture.org/show_bug... and one of the developers is looking at it.
If you add yourself to the cc list on that bug - then you will get updates when it is fixed and if we can come up w/ a workaround for it.

Hi Jed,
I don't see how to attach the full log file, email me directly and I'll send it to you, it just crashed again seconds ago. I can DL outside of Miro OK sometimes. The apparent success of Pan's idea was merely hollow appearance. Everything is stalled and won't download. But at least it does show the most recent episodes now. Still what the log show is massive time outs all across the board, which does not make sense since it does DL most things most of the time. well, I'll leave the rest to you. I'll cut and paste the end of the log, which seems to sum it up, but if you want the whole thing please mail me and I'll attach the complete file.
thanks!

I've downloaded today from Revision3 channel the latest update (30.07.) http://revision3.com/rev3gazette/feed...
I've sometimes the problem that the feeds were not updated. The only fix was to remove and readd them. Don't know what that causes.
nobodie asked a question in Participatory Culture Foundation (Miro) on August 28, 2008 01:52:
Multiple crashes and lost channel connectionsDual problem, perhaps connected: After August 1st, I lost download ability for Revision3 and some other channels. The problem might have to do0 with the Chinese firewall, since I live here, but it is often foolish to assume that. Or maybe Rev3 switched to feedburner? since that is definitely blocked here. Or it could be a Miro problem since I am also getting a crash report fairly frequently since that same time. I am baffled since Miro was working fine (within some limitations of course) until August 1.-

A little extra information: The fix worked, but only one time. After I restarted it returned to its slow speed. So I went direct to the site to check for an update and found one, which did improve the speed somewhat, maybe 25%. So now I am up to date, but still loading slow. I do find it interesting that the information above did improve it that one time when it loaded in about 5-8 seconds. Or could it be that I have preload and prelink installed and enabled so that it holds it ready to restart and.... but that doesn't make sense. Hmm, i just closed and restarted : about 30 seconds on startup. you be the judge. Since I don't consider this anything like critical I don't sweat it, but obviously some people have higher expectations than I do. Or at least a shorter attention span. – nobodie, on August 14, 2008 14:42

If you read the instructions it was merely a matter of DLing (through apt-get) some other dependencies that are not needed for the operation of the program. I didn't have to compile from source at all. And I didn't. If you need to, however, maybe you should look at the instructions. I find compiling from source to be rather easy, compared to the work that the developers do to create a program like this. I respect their work and their time (thus I happily answer for Rick who has other stuff going on no doubt). Anyway, the solution that he directed me to works for me and might for you as well, if you try it. – nobodie, on August 05, 2008 11:28

I think compiling from source is no valid solution for end users. – elmargol, on August 05, 2008 10:23

I am not sure who your reply is directed to. Rick's solution worked perfectly for me and startup now runs about 3-4 seconds as it should. Maybe you have some other issues? perhaps a separate post would get an answer that would help, or perhaps you don't want an answer? – nobodie, on August 05, 2008 09:46
