you're totally correct

there are actually two ways of getting your history: a api-only method and an rss method. the latter (for reasons inherent to the way rss links work) cannot be de-authorized when you de-auth via the api

we've fixed up this logic so you'll no longer see this problem with last-nights-checkins as well as other applications

jeff: thanks for the details here.

we pulled together the logic here like so: if, for some reason, the app crashes on first login, it forgets your details (to avoid putting the user in an endless crash loop that might be caused by location or some other issue)

if your first login (and app close) goes normally, your credentials are saved forever

can you let me know if this is the case? if not, then you're right: there might be something else at play

you can turn off posting to twitter here http://foursquare.com/settings
this will leave your accounts linked (so people can find you etc) but by default it'll ask you whether you want to post your checkins to twitter first before posting them

the current version of the app doesn't have this feature. we have an update in the queue that'll expose this

in the meantime, you can get iphone to "forget" your settings by reinstalling the app. sorry for the inconvenience! this change will be live soon enough!

it's possible a superuser closed it accidentally. i just checked and it seems to have been reopened
