If you are not willing to start from scratch, here is a way to do it.
1. shut down miro.
2. move the Miro database and you download folder back to where they were before.
3. move the application settings back if you moved it before
Start Miro, as it should not complain now.
Go to preferences in Miro, and set the download folder to any other location, be it another volume or not.
Miro will ask you if you want to migrate your movies. Yes you do. Wait. When it's done, you're done.

if you are willing to start from scratch, here is a way to do it.
1. shut down miro. If your miro is as borked as mine was, here is how to do it.
ps -ef | grep Miro | xargs kill
2. kill your current preferences.
cd ~/Library/Preferences
rm org.participatorycuture.miro.plist
3. kill the application settings
cd ~/Library/Application\ Support
rm -r Miro
go to your applications folder and throw away your Miro icon.
Reinstall Miro.
For me this got things working.

I have a similar problem. My buddy was helping me and renamed the volume where miro stored data from \Volumes\big un\ to \Volumes\bigun.
I tried uninstalling miro and reinstalling it, I even found the directory where the sqllite db is stored and deleted it. Nothing seems to help poor miro become useable again.

Well, I got it to work.....ish. When I open the application I can play a video, when that movie finishes it plays the next video in the playlist. All okay at this stage. But, If I go back to the video menu to select a different video the application quits itself yet again. When I open up the application again the same process happens. Any ideas?

Thank you for all your help getting this to work.... Now I even know how to add repositories to Ubuntu (finally solves my constant problem of 'how to install programs on Ubuntu properly'
Miro runs fine now on both my Mac and Ubuntu. Nice app. – herbalt, on November 02, 2008 20:46

On this page you find the location of the
log files.
If you want to try it from the source you get more information on the Windows build docs

@purpledog
In this case, podcasts must be downloaded manually, while not 'auto'?
Imagining, as a TV, when you switch it on, it presented you just some plays or episodes you did not watch 3 or 5 days ago. Is this called 'TV'?
As I've seen, a lot of people living in Linux just need the function or option of 'auto download latest episode'.

Hi Bob,
what operating system do you use and which version of miro?
If on linux, I can remember that I'd something like this with xine. With version 1.1.15 this was solved. Another guess, if you use xv, what happened if using another mode?
And last but not least, does gstreamer has the same effects?
