Here's a tip to those of you losing posts and forgetting to copy the tweet first: if you're using Firefox, you can right-click in the post field and select "undo". Firefox restores your tweet and you can try posting again

I've been having this problem as well, I think since yesterday's site update. Never happened before but Twitter has been eating a lot of my posts in this time, forcing me to copy&paste my tweets before submitting, just to be safe. It usually works after the second try.
