Hi Anthony - would you expect chi.mp to give me an openid_p cookie after login (as the Facebook dev mentions on his wiki page)?
If so, I am not seeing one - could that be part of the issue? If there's anything I can do to help test, please let me know.
I agree - entering the ID manually is preferable.

Thanks to both for your replies. Laurel - I was able to associate my Facebook account with chi.mp, so that aspect seems to have worked. I just don't see that Facebook does anything when I navigate to their page - have tried with Safari (Mac) and Firefox 3 (XP) now. Maybe it's just a Facebook issue - I just wasn't sure exactly what was supposed to happen after the association of accounts had been done.
PS Laurel - on your "how to" I notice you've orange'd out the guys name everywhere but in the last field. If you're going to try and anonymise him you might want to do that last image too...
Thanks for the help anyway

Just bought a CD and thought I'd download songbird and give it a go - just wanted to be able to play my CD and scrobble it from work (I'll rip it at home later today). For convoluted reasons I don't want to use Windows Media Player or iTunes from this machine. Was very surprised there's no CD playback. Other than that, it looks good.-

Paul Jones replied on May 10, 2009 15:01 to the question "Free digital PDF copies for guidebook owners" in Lonely Planet:
Actually, I've just found a thread on this elsewhere. I see on there that a PDF copy was promised if the guy on that thread could show he'd bought the physical guides. Is there any chance of that offer being extended to me? ;-)
Thanks in advance
Paul.
Paul Jones asked a question in Lonely Planet on May 10, 2009 14:56:
Free digital PDF copies for guidebook ownersI've not checked out the Lonely Planet website in a while, but I see that PDF copies of new editions are now being offered. I think this is a great idea as they are obviously much more portable (and you can choose the chapters you need). If I'd have known, I think I would probably have bought my two most recent books (Peru and Bolivia) as PDFs instead of physical books.
That said, though, once you get back from a trip it is nice to have the books on the shelf.
With that in mind, are there any plans to make free PDF copies available to owners of actual guidebooks? I don't really want to end up buying two copies of the same thing!
Thanks
Paul.

Paul Jones asked a question in chi.mp on March 12, 2009 23:29:
I don't yet understand why chi.mp is usefulI was intrigued by chi.mp when I came across it and yesterday, after a couple of weeks wait, I got an invitation to set up my page.
Looking at the features, some have an obvious purpose but, overall, I don't think I yet understand why I might "need" it. Let me explain what I think it is for and some of the questions I have - maybe someone can point me in the right direction.
1. Aggregating the content you create on other sites (e.g. twitter and flickr - presumably with more to come), plus content you create directly on chi.mp, to display to other people.
So, this is my "home page" of sorts? I wouldn't expect to use it to aggregate content from twitter/flickr etc to view myself? If it is really owned by me, would I not expect to be able to fully customise the page (perhaps that is a feature due later down the line)? I read a post elsewhere saying that this could be "open to abuse". I'm not sure if I understand that/agree with it; if it is supposed to be my home page, would I not want to set it up exactly as I wish?
2. If your contacts login to chi.mp, they will see the content you have chosen to display to them based on the persona they're allocated to.
Will my contacts ever do this? Perhaps if OpenID reaches critical mass they might, but at the moment I don't think I know anyone who would actually want to login to my own chi.mp site just to see my twitter feed. Say for example I wanted to include a resumé / CV as part of a "Work" persona - would I really expect interested parties to login to see that?
3. Aggregating contact details from other networks (e.g. twitter, facebook, flickr) into a single address book.
This sounds really nice conceptually, all in one place is certainly good - but then I am not calling anyone, e-mailing anyone or messaging anyone from within chi.mp so I am not quite sure why I would ever look up a contact in chi.mp's address book - wouldn't I still need to use that contact information in the "source" application (e.g. an e-mail address in GMail)? I guess if two-way synchronisation with all those other services was possible this could be an amazing feature, but that seems quite a way off.
4. Providing a nice, short OpenID.
This is a very clear benefit to me, much better than the OpenID I was previously using and I have been happy to switch to something so short (and with such easy access to the related data).
Maybe I am completely missing the point - hope someone can enlighten me!
Thanks in advance
Paul.-
