Hi,
Create an account : click sign in near the search box on the upper right of the home page : http://photosynth.net .
After you've signed in click on the yellow create link, which will take you to a page where you'll be prompted to install the client software.

Peter replied on December 16, 2008 19:15 to the question "Getting memory error when try to synth" in Microsoft Live Labs:
Hi,
Do you have log file generated by the synther ; it is stored in %tmp%\Photosynther\synthtitle.log ; where synthtitle is what you named the synth.
1) Start->Run, type "cmd" and press enter
2) Type: cd %tmp%\Photosynther press enter
3) Type: start . press enter
4) Double click the log file, probably "test.log"
5) Copy-Paste this into a reply to this thread.
Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for helping answer all my questions; I think we've found the cause of this issue.
There are two different image conversion libraries we use, it appears there's a regression in how we use the older image conversion library on xp sp2. Windows xp sp3 and later all ship with WIC , a newer image conversion library that supports more options.
A work around is to install wic on your xp sp2 machine:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/de...
It is a 1.2 mb download.
We're working on a fix that won't require this additional download but if you want to try the workaround go for it.
Thanks

Can you try with different set of images, like the sample photos in C:\Users\Public\Pictures\Sample Pictures\ ? – Peter, on December 15, 2008 20:47

Thanks for the info here are some more questions
What OS are on?
When the thumbnails are shown in the list view box after the add dialog closes , do they all load or do some stay showing a red x icon?
Does the crash happen immediately when you close add the files or after hitting "synth" button? – Peter, on December 15, 2008 18:53
Peter replied on December 15, 2008 18:44 to the problem "Photosynth Upgrade 2.0.1519.13 don't work for me" in Microsoft Live Labs:
Hi Wim
Just to be clear this crash is in the synther (pswebclient.exe), correct? If you go to %tmp%\Photosynther, the log should be in there. The name of the log file is the title of the synth with ".log" appended to it.
(%tmp% is a system enviromental variable that windows defines for every user.) What version of XP are you using?
Thanks

the graphics card that's in your computer doesn't have the capabilities to run photosynth. Dan Cory's post above has the details as to which graphics cards aren't supported. – Peter, on September 15, 2008 17:05
Peter replied on September 09, 2008 16:57 to the question "Photos gone, only points?" in Microsoft Live Labs:
Hi,
If you're seeing "photos gone only points" bug, try upgrading. Last night we released an updated viewer, synther, and installer package which has some fixes for this issue. See Scott's post for more information.
Please note, this is an optional upgrade which is why you aren't prompted to upgrade when you visit the site.
