Philipp Grunwald asked a question in Streamy on December 18, 2009 21:25:
How can I deactivate all recommendations?I don't want to have the standard recommendations showing up for me.
But I found no way/source where they are actually implemented into my stream.
I can choose my news for myself, thanks!
A comment on the question "When will there be a output plugin for SnagIt (TechSmith)?" in Dropbox:
Yeah but how should SnagIt realize this? I mean first this is a post @Dropbox GS forum, second the reason for such a plugin I request is indeed that, as SnagIt doesn't provide that (and it shouldn't!). Or basically TechSmith does provide it via Jing, you name it. Still, it is about the SnagIt workflow - and what about the point that indeed my screenshots need to be distributed to lots of different folders? There a custom profile would only hinder me. I personally don't even use them a lot because (at least until now) I had so many OS reinstalls or similar stuff, I just had to do it all again, so wasn't worth it for me... – Philipp Grunwald, on November 18, 2009 21:41

I don't get that point, yes you get the public URL - and? My point was about putting the image(s) in the folder in the first place...this is where norz has made a good suggestion definitely. – Philipp Grunwald, on November 18, 2009 00:06

Just a quick comment: Yes indeed I do agree that GS is the way to go, at least I believe that, so I hope for YOU that you'll be able to lower your burden via GS. :) – Philipp Grunwald, on November 17, 2009 20:23

Yes indeed, add them on the support page. :) I actually think I follow it with one of my account, just don't have it all in my mind...concerning contact form, I'm really wondering about this one. Why is this?? This really interests me! Come back concerning that via private mail or facebook if you like to. :) Because I'm actually wondering, as you provide your e-mail address(es) everywhere (in principle you are reachable ;)), why it then drops. And again: I'm not sure if that is the right decision, even if you're overwhelmed in the first place. In this case the customers have to take (and be notified about) scheduled waiting time, so your "SLA" wouldn't be under 72 hours e.g. ^_^ As you offer a FREE product, I think everyone should (and ought to) be perfectly fine with that! – Philipp Grunwald, on November 16, 2009 23:04
Philipp Grunwald replied on November 16, 2009 18:24 to the idea "Integrate security extensions, prevent phishing etc.!" in Flock:
Hi Evan,
thanks for your answer, good points. Of course I agree upon your safety statement of the Gecko engine and I'm happy about it. But shall we be overconfident?
I mean I brought up two very specific examples which were in no way hindered by the engine! I mean, of course, you have to be careful and I am. But: It might be extreme, but I don't even want to see this stuff!! I want to see a warning!
I mean I use OpenDNS already but of course it isn't always up-to-date or complete in any regard. I'm just thinking as said of going one step further, I mean that is what you created flock for, isn't it?
I mean, I find it kind of funny, because flock itself contradicts your statements in the way that flock integrates loads of social and e-mail features one can definitely also have in Firefox! Maybe not exactly the same way, but almost.
There are so many extensions out there, so may even integrate some specific flock USPs better than flock does! No problem of course. :) I still use flock exclusively since months (installed basically since years), yet why not integrate security in the same way social media is integrated? I mean aren't social media and security, e.g. in terms of identity- and reputation-management closely interweaved? I mean, hey, try to just note it down _somewhere_ and you might end up enlarging flock in a positive way in the future and thereby e.g. reach more security sensitive people. You could even marked that in a great way. Why? Because: It is _out of the box_! I know soooooo many average, mainly totally non-techie firefox users and loads of corporate and scientific communities using firefox without any single extension installed or installable. Now is this really safer then using one of the best off of addons.mozilla.org? I doubt it.
Except for that, thanks for the permission, of course I may contact some extension developers as I did before. :)
One question left: I'm wondering, I'm not of the opinion one needs another, a second, a totally different extension for flock?? I though you'd just change a few lines of code from the main version and that's it? Have already seen "combined" extensions also...so no actual effort/work for any developer! :)
Esp. as potentially more users would use, recommend and report bugs to the dev(s), which might improve the money stream (e.g. donations) for them even, instead of really meaning any significant extra work! :)
Kind regards.
Philipp Grunwald replied on November 16, 2009 18:12 to the problem "Improve your availability / visibility for endusers!" in Flock:
Hi Evan, thanks for your follow-up!
It is actually indeed a visibility problem, at least with the e-mail which I might not have seen there - yet also might not always feel as convenient to work with, a contact form here and there (those "Feedback" buttons without any "subject" line required found on many web2.0 sites, I like them!).
And concerning GetSatisfaction, um, it might be their fault in displaying the stuff. It is just, I look onto your flock GS frontpage and look at the dates noted there, and as/if I don't find any message been answered within the last five to seven days, I assume you're not really here, because everything later than 72 hours could also be just a "picture" I got, while actually normally it takes much longer. I mean, of course there might be another help desk bug tracking system separately, but for all the other issues GS is just the way to go, so I expect to 1. see either recent answers or 2. to see that almost all problems, if none are recent, are answered to from the flock staff. So yes, maybe that is a visibility problem!
Concerning GS I might look up again if I got that feeling of "non-action" out of unanswered requests from my side and then may forward them to you...
Concerning my way to look for help, as said, I miss a "Contact" link on the flock.com homepage (which btw. does not directly link to GS!) and a form there (ok, just my wish of course...). Concerning twitter and facebook, sorry if I didn't make it clear: I don't like to interrupt you, even if you allow me to! Those are your personal accounts (if it doesn't say @flock(-browser) or sth. like that at least!) and I just won't use them for work stuff, I mean I wouldn't want that either! (Except for some special institutions I work in in my case.)
Thanks for listening again - and for the quick response! :)

Improve your availability / visibility for endusers!Guys,
I hate it that you are so difficult to reach and that there is no contact for or e-mail or whatsoever on the flock site! Do you think this will change anything, make anything better?
As if the people would send you less crap. Do they at all send crap?
Or might you more likely miss out on important suggestions concerning your product?
For a "web2.0" company, your communication policy sucks big time!
Because, honestly, I don't want to disturb you in your personal area writing you flock related stuff to your facebook/twitter/myspace, how shall this work out? I won't want this myself.
Plus, I mean, this isn't efficient, get a proper, cheap help desk system (example Network Hippo or ZenDesk what they use here) and take on to the challenge of customer support instead of playing seek & hide!
Kind regards.

Integrate security extensions, prevent phishing etc.!Hi there,
I just stumbled across a virus/trojan site posted via a hacked facebook account today and yesterday saw "the first" phishing case with my own eyes. What you really, really need to do, as the general Add-On / extension comptability is so bad anyway:
Work together with leading developers of security extensions for Firefox and make them compatible for flock as well as recommending them to flock users!!!
Do it, there is no excuse, security is always first!
Thanks in advance...
Kind regards,
Philipp Grunwald

Profile of colleague unaccessible?Hi there,
why can't I find a friend('s profile) here? It seems he joined as the site was still named "givesatisfaction.com" (? *lol*), anyway I found his profile here via Google!
Yet I can't find him via nickname or real name search of GS anymore, even though he was active only four month ago. Why is this not working?

Do not ask for twitter account data! Why can't I just link to twitter, but have to give my details?! I don't want to! I don't need any additional services (at least not for now), want to friends on "mynameis", I want just my (own) space / "starting page"!
