Is the opera browser not known by RescueTime?I use a portable version of Opera, you can download it at www.opera-usb.com
It shows up in the process list as op.com
It reports in Rescuetime as op.com
Did you chose to ignore Opera as a web browser, I do not have this problem with IE, which reports the sites I went to in RescueTime. Could you change this so that I can see in RescueTime the sites I surfed to, instead of seeing "1h42 op.com".
Cheers.

BUG: RT keeps crashing during startupI have been using RT for a couple of days without problems. But due to a non clean shutdown of the PC, RT keeps crashing during launch.
I re-installed RT, rebooted the PC, but to no avail. I use Windows 2000 Pro, SP4. Is there a problem in the database that became corrupt or something? Why does not it work when I re-install RT?

Portable version of RescueTimeHas RescueTime been designed with portability in mind?
My goal is to have rescueTime on my USB key, and run it from the USB, without leaving anything on the host PC (no change of registry, no left files). No need to install Rescue Time on every PC that I am using. Note: I never use 2 or more PCs at the same time, it is either work or home PCs at different times.
By running RescueTime from a USB device, I can really track my time on the PC, not the time of the PC itself (at home, I use the same XP account for several people, being lazy creating separate user accounts....).
I know that VMWare ThinApp gives a way to make any application portable (example: Microsoft Word, etc). I have not tried it yet with RescueTime, I would like to know first if RescueTime (the data collector) is a portable app in the first place, or will be in the near future.

RT to disable the screensaver when watching a videoI have a small feature request. This may strech beyond the purpose of Rescure Time a little bit, but still...
On XP, I usually set my screen saver to switch on after 10 minutes of inactivity. When watching a video, most if not all browsers or video players do NOT control the screensaver and after 10 minutes of watching the video (even full screen), the screen saver will activate. So I have to manually change "10 minutes" to "180 minutes" to avoid the screen saver to pop up when watching a movie.
As RescueTime is tracking in real time the activity on my PC, it detects when I start watching a video (at least I hope it does). So could you add a few lines of code to dis-able the screen saver as long as I am watching a video? This would be very helpful.
Alternatively, do you know of some good freeware that does that? The only one I know of that partially handles this is the video player smplayer, but I am looking for a more generic application that also handles the case where the video is played inside a browser.

ppgs shared an idea in RescueTime on June 03, 2008 07:50:
Dashboard: include the time spent away from the PC in the totalUsing Rescuetime in my company, I spend some time away from my computer: breaks, meetings, interviews. So the amount of daily time reported in Rescue Time may vary greatly day after day.
RescueTime records a valuable information for me: time of the first login in the morning and time of the last logout in the evening. With these 2 times, I should be able to know the actual amount of time spent in my company (I know even some companies that use the login time of their employee as a "time card", to record the amount of time spent inside the company).
Anyway, I would like to see this information on my dash board. The best is to include it into the bar chart and count the time spent away from the computer, and auto-tag it for example "Away from PC". It would be simply computed as:
(time of last logout of the day) MINUS (time of first login of the day) MINUS (total of time recorded by RescueTime -applications, sites-)
By doing so, the dashboard will display more consistent total time day by day, and I would be able to see the days where I spend more time away from the PC.

Group intranet sites under the same tagRescueTime reports many web adresses from my company Intranet:
xyz.abc.mycompany.com
def.mycompany.com
xxx.yyy.mycompany.com:8080
etc.
All this appears as untagged.
Could you explain what setting I should change to get all activities with "mycompany.com" in their name under the same tag "Company Intranet".
ppgs replied on April 24, 2008 23:12 to the question "Weekly chart to compare 2 to 3 weeks worth of data" in RescueTime:
Yes, sort of. I would still prefer to see Monday through Sunday on the same chart. Only data for this week is of low relevance for me. To make the most of the data, I need to compare it to the previous week, or an average over several weeks. That's why I would like to plot at least 2-3 weeks of data on the same weekly chart.
Eventually, a totally flexible custom chart definition would should be one of your goals: letting the user specify what he wants to display on a chart.

More useful widgets, please !RescueTime Graph Widget: do you have plans for more widgets, besides "Top 10 apps" and "Top 10 activities"?
The ones I would like to have (same as the charts from the dashboard):
- chart for time spent this week (or any other specified week)
- chart for time spent today (or any other specified day)
If you do not plan to provide those in the near future (say not before July 08), then could you explain what html code (including javascript) should be stripped off the dashboard html code, and which libraries should be included.
ppgs asked a question in RescueTime on April 24, 2008 05:37:
Weekly chart to compare 2 to 3 weeks worth of dataCould you add one chart on the dashboard, where x = "Monday, Tuesday, ... Sunday" , and y = "time spent". Same as the existing one, except that you could specify 2 or 3 different weeks, and the data for each week would show up as a bar.
For example, "Monday" has 3 bars, one for each specified week. Same for Tuesday, etc. So with 3 weeks to compare, 21 bars would be displayed (3 for every day).
This is just an idea. More generally, could you come up with your own ideas of feature to make daily comparisons between weeks (eg. Tuesday this week compared to Tuesday last week, compared to Tuesday 2 weeks ago).

Real-time RSS alerts, not just daily...Could you make RSS alerts in real time, not just daily summaries?
For example, at the point in time when I reach one of the goals, update the RSS feed, then I will get an alert flashing in my RSS reader system (I prefer this over email).
