RKielsky replied on October 30, 2008 22:47 to the question "Can I run two instances of Flypaper at once?" in Flypaper:
The person in-house who does this suggests:
"I use a free application called Synergy for my virtual KVM. I have used this for years and it’s pretty easy to setup. http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/ "
I hope that helps.

I have checked with some of the developers and they think you are right.
They did have this to suggest:
"You could work around this using a virtual machine to host a second instance, but I don’t think that it would be of much use because it would degrade the performance pretty drastically. What I have done (to do side by side comparisons) is have 2 computers running sharing a virtual KVM so I can switch between full instances. This is probably the best way to achieve what the requester has desired."
Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.
RKielsky replied on October 30, 2008 14:11 to the question ".flv now publishes.... but I get nothing in the published document!" in Flypaper:
Can you send me your contact information offline to support@flypaper.com. I will contact you to have you send me your .fly file and the flv you created.
I will take a look at what you have. You should be able to put it into a webpage using Dreamweaver without any issue. I have done this successfully.

Hi Summer,
I have answered your question offline, and will answer here as well. The proxy server you mentioned in your email could affect Flypaper.
http://www.flypaper.com/support/faq.aspx has a link to the Flypaper Story on clearing proxy servers, as well as several other tips.
You also may need to run as Admin.
RKielsky replied on October 28, 2008 16:42 to the question "Import Flypaper swf into Captivate?" in Flypaper:
Hi Rob,
A Flypaper swf needs to have all the framework files and folders along with it to run.
Because of this, they won't import well into something like captivate. If you save as a video you can import that, but you will lose the interactivity.
Our inhouse expert in Captivate, had this to say..
In general, you CAN use Captivates, but the full motion parts will kill you. I’ve done so without using a frame or player buttons, and by avoiding full motion. However, even without the full-motion parts, it simply runs slower in Flypaper than it does as a stand-alone. The options as I see them are:
· Use Captivate, but no full motion (user can substitute graphic arrow overlays for actual moving elements).
· Better yet: Use a series of optimized screen prints with a graphic arrow pointer that approximates a mouse. This is lean and mean.
· Use a different third-party screen capture utility that may be more efficient than Captivate.
Please let me know if there is anything further I can help you with.
RKielsky replied on October 21, 2008 20:56 to the question "Linking to a folder on a memory stick" in Flypaper:
The way to do this is to use the relative path function.
The problem with this is that you have to save as a .exe if you want other people to be able to view it locally. Flash security settings on most computers block it if you save as a Web Story to view locally.
And relative paths only work for Web Stories, not in .exe Stories.
That said, here is the syntax for doing what you want to do:
1. Add a folder at the same level as all the other folders (resources, xml, etc.). Call the folder PDF.
2. Place the pdf files inside this folder. Let’s say the pdf’s filename is filename.pdf
3. The syntax in the URL boxes should be Folder/filename.pdf . The PDF folder should be at the same level as the Main.swf, so you specify the folder first, and then the filename. In this example, it would look like: PDF/filename.pdf.
If what you want to do is distribute this to people you need to save as a .exe. If you still want to include this other file, one way to do it is to make a jpg of each page and put those into your story.
I hope that helps. Please let me know if you further questions.

Hi Amy,
I understand you are frustrated.
I know you said you were able to connect a week or so ago, so I am thinking something has changed on your system.
I would look at your anti-virus, and see if that is stopping you, or any thing else you have between you and the internet. Even an update to a router can change things.

To set the clock on your computer to make sure it is in sync, go to www.google.com and type “Local Time” in the Search box.
Also check your user privileges - Go to C:/Program Files/Flypaper and right click on Flypaper.exe, select Run As Administrator especially if you are using Vista, but this can also be needed on some XP machines.

RKielsky replied on October 15, 2008 17:55 to the problem "Communication Error - Cannot connect to flypaper.net" in Flypaper:
This is usually caused by Flypaper not being able to communicate with our servers. Usually it is the Firewall or Anti-Virus that is causing it.
This link http://flypaper.com/support/faq.aspx has some details on what to do.

It sounds like you did not optimize the images, and perhaps the audio or video in the story.
Flypaper will keep the whole file, even if you only use part of it or resize it.
If you resize the images, or crop the audio or video before you add them, this will greatly improve the story performance, and loading time.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.

RKielsky replied on October 06, 2008 16:53 to the problem "Fly Pro Blues" in Flypaper:
Please first make sure you have version 1.02 of flypaper. If not please upgrade and see if that fixes it.
If you do already have 1.02 it could be your Firewall or anti-virus software may be getting in the way of communication.
You can test this by temporarily disabling each of them and trying to upload again.
Another possibility is that your system clock is off by more than 5 minutes. check this against a standard such as this http://www.time.gov/timezone.cgi?East... to make sure you are within 5 minutes.
Please report back here and let us know how this goes.
