This is a community for aviation enthusiasts and pilots. If you own an aviation related company, feel free to submit your company to our business directory. If you want to sell your used pilot gear, feel free to post your items in our classifieds section.
Do not solicit your business via other means through the site without prior permission of Blue Sky Gear. If you want to advertise your business on our home page or across our site, please feel free to get in touch with us.

Custom Module Icons displaying too lowWhenever I use a custom Module Icon, the icon is displayed too low on the Jisbar. The default icons appear centered on the bar, but mine always display too low and look out of place. How do we get our icons to appear centered on the Jisbar?
Have a look at my Av Jobs icon on my site at http://www.blueskygear.com to see what i mean.
Thanks in advance!

How to create a GroupGroups on Blue Sky Gear are a great way to bring friends together that share similar interests. Members have the ability to create their own aviation groups and can make them either private or open.
To create a group, select DISPATCHES > GROUPS
In the top right hand corner of the main Groups page, select +Add a Group.
This will bring you to your Groups Information page. Complete this section and when you are satisfied with the information, click Add Group.
To ensure your groups image displays properly, your image needs to be 171 x 171 pixels.
Groups need to be approved by BSG before they will go live.

How to add a video to the siteThere are currently two methods of adding a video to Blue Sky Gear : linking to a video and uploading a video. In both cases, go to MEDIA > VIDEOS
Link to a video
If you've found a great aviation video on a video sharing service like YouTube, select this option. In YouTube, as in others, there will be a video URL option. Highlight the link and copy it. Paste the link into the Input Link textbox and click Apply. This will take you to a new page where you will have the opportunity to edit the description et al. Once you are satisfied with the description, click save.
Your video will have to be approved by BSG prior to it going live on the site.
Upload a video
If you have a great aviation video you've shot, this is the option to select.
Section 1. allows you to select a video from your computer by selecting Browse
Section 2. allows you to upload a thumbnail for your video. If you do not have one, select the checkbox.
After you have completed both, click Upload and go to next step. Here you will enter a description for your video. When you have completed your description, click save.
Your video will have to be approved by BSG prior to it going live on the site.
Feel free to link or upload as many videos as you'd like. Please ensure they are appropriate for our site or else they won't be approved.

Robert Flindall replied on June 18, 2009 04:08 to the question "How to change Sub header image...?" in Ning:
I received the following code from the good folks over at Ning for Dummies :
.xg_module_head {
background: url( yourimagehere) no-repeat top left;
padding:12px 6px;
}
Add this to your Advanced tab under Appearance. Where it reads yourimagehere, make sure you add the http:// to your URL address.
If you take a quick peek at my site at www.blueskygear.com, you can see an example of what you can do with your subheaders.
Hope that helps!

"round the world" - Why do I get this with every message I send!?Every time I send a message in my network, I always get the annoying pop-up that announces that something I've written in my message could be construed as being a "round the world" email and may not be accepted by the recipient. I get this regardless of what I send
This is extremely annoying and unnecessary. How the heck do I get this to stop doing this!?
Thanks in advance

Robert Flindall asked a question in Ning on June 04, 2009 17:04:
Other music player options?Is it possible to display the music player on a page in my site versus the small player on the homepage or the pop-out option?
Are there any other options for the music player?

My site just completely crashed! What the...!I was attempting to edit a text box on my main page when the site completely froze. I closed my web browser and fired it back up again, only to receive a "Yikes!" webpage.
My site is now completely screwed up - have a look at Blue Sky Gear .
I've reported this to Ning and I'm waiting for a response. Has anyone else had this problem and were they able to repair it???
I don't want to lose the months of work I've done on my site so I'm more than a bit nervous and pissed at the same time.
