Ryan Romanchuk replied on October 09, 2008 22:08 to the question "Facebook and Flickr Friends" in Dipity:
If you wanted to, you could create a new channel and manually enter the usernames of your Flickr friends from the add sources tab. For Facebook you can hit the "friends" tab (in facebook) and grab the RSS url (they usually put it on the lower left side of the page) and import from the "Add RSS" in the same add sources dialogue.
This isn't the best solution, and I agree with you that it would be nice to have seamless integration between the two.
It's always an uphill battle with Facebook because of restrictions, but the Flickr integration is definitely doable.
Thanks,

Hey ganeshpuri89,
I was just wondering if we can address your original problem. We have gotten reports of a similar problem. Did you get the "Oops! Looks like the topic you're looking for doesn't exist" after changing your timeline permissions? Do you remember the sequence of events that led up to the timeline being unavailable?
Thanks,
Ryan

To add your flickr photos go to "add sources" hit flickr and then enter Ed_X for your username. I was able to do it twice now on a timeline I just created at http://www.dipity.com/user/rromanchuk...
Go ahead and give it a try on that timeline

Hey Ed,
Yeah, Flickr is notoriously confusing when trying to figure out your username.
Ed_X worked for me. I added it to the public timeline here:
http://www.dipity.com/user/rromanchuk...
Let me know if that username works for you,
Ryan

Hi Ed,
What is the username and the public url for your photostream (for example, http://www.flickr.com/photos/thenobot/) that you are trying to use on Dipity?
Thanks,
Ryan

Hey Kath,
Want to email me so we can try to figure out what is going on? Might be easier that way. Once we figure out what went wrong we can post the solution.
Send me an email ryan@dipity.com when you get a chance.
Thanks! – rromanchuk, on August 27, 2008 20:36

Hi Kath,
Have you looked at the above link I posted http://www.flickr.com/account/prefs/o... and verified you do not have "Hide your photostream from searches on 3rd party sites that use the API?" enabled?
Also, you need to be sure your photos can be viewed publicly. I have checked your user name which you supplied as "learningcommunitycharterschool " and when I tried to go to your personal page at http://flickr.com/photos/learningcomm... I got a "could not be found." If your photos are not publicly available, Dipity will not be able to import them.
Thanks,
Ryan

Hey Pat,
It looks like something is blocking applications from getting your public information in your privacy settings.
When looking up the user patellinger the API comes back with "user not found"
I would double check your privacy settings, especially these http://www.flickr.com/account/prefs/o... and make sure you have not checked "Hide your photostream from searches on 3rd party sites that use the API?" Dipity will not be able to import your photos with that option enabled. My guess is that Kath is having the same problem.
Let me know if that helps,
Ryan
