folks, please keep it civil here
aurelio.lourenco we appreciate you testing Thunderbird 3 RC1
pasa: thanks for the 300 updates in Get Satisfaction. It's great you are helping others.
webmail is a fantastic extension BUT it's like an arms race to keep it working so as aurelio did I would suggest not using it when POP or IMAP access is available as it is for hotmail.

Sorry for the late reply:
I have asked dev and QA for help.
The only other thing I can suggest is:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Compacting_...
and deleting .msf files
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Compacting_...
And of course upgrading to Thunderbird 3 RC1 on a test gmail account might also help since some IMAP fixes have gone into Thunderbird 3

Hi Bill:
Pasa has given some good suggestions on checking your network. David Bazet's suggestions could work too but are rather drastic and should not be necessary except as a last resort.
you wrote:
As mentioned in my original post the problem only is present in Windows 7!!!
To send you screen shots would be a waste of yours and my time. Perhaps the community needs to do more testing with NON DEFAULT PORT SETTINGS and WIN 7...
Testing was done with non default port settings and Windows 7. In fact I run windows 7 with 4 gmail accounts and hotmail and it works fine. And worked fine from the very start.
The reason we asked for settings screenshots was because sometimes people make mistakes or sometimes support gives the wrong settings. We have had both happen on numerous occasions. Anyhow for other crystaltech users who see this topic the future, the SMTP settings for outgoing seem to be (based on http://help.webcontrolcenter.com/KB/a... )
1. user name: full email address (e.g. bill@billsdomain.com)
2. servername mail.yourdomain (e.g. mai.billsdomain.com)
3. port 8889
Roland Tanglao replied on November 27, 2009 21:24 to the problem "update Thunderbird 3 beta 4 to RC1 Build 3 and all emails and folders not found" in Mozilla Messaging:
Hi Bluekit:
Do you see your messages if you goto View->Folders
and select "All" ?
Sounds like the data is there. Before you do anything else, please back up:
C:\Documents and Settings\XX\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\
Try disabling any extensions including calendar
If that doesn't work
Please reply with complete details as requested in our README: ISP, mail service provider, POP or IMAP settings, outgoing SMTP mail server settings, what add-ons you have installed if any, exact error message, what you did, what you expected, what happened, etc
Worse case scenario, you will have to create a new profile and copy the old data in:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferrin...

Roland Tanglao replied on November 27, 2009 19:23 to the problem "TB3rc1 hangs on close" in Mozilla Messaging:
hi Patrick:
Are you using IMAP or POP? The other thing that was suggested to me was to do a "netstat -a" to see if your imap or pop connections are closed.
This sounds to like a bug. If you know how, please file a bug at bugzilla.mozilla.org and post link to the bug here. If you don't know how let me know and I'll file it for you.
Roland Tanglao replied on November 27, 2009 19:07 to the problem "Changed From--> email won't send" in Mozilla Messaging:
Hi David:
I tried this on Thunderbird 2.0.0.23 and it worked fine:
1. clicked "reply all"
2. changed From address from 1 gmail account, i.e. roland1@gmail.com to another roland2@gmail.com
3. sent an email
4. no error message, email was sent properly
Please tell us exactly what you did and what the error message was. A screenshot of Thunderbird not allowing you to send would be best.

Roland Tanglao replied on November 27, 2009 00:44 to the question "Cannot send email with Mac TB3 RC1 w/1und1.de WAS:Thunderbird 3 RC1 Mac cannot connect to SMTP server" in Mozilla Messaging:
Hallo Marcus:
I use Thunderbird 3 RC1 on my Mac and Windows and have no problems sending and receiving email.
Since it works on your Windows Thunderbrid 3 RC1, it's probably a settings problem i.e. your settings on your Mac are slightly different from those that are working on Windows.
Please double check your settings are the same on Mac and Windows.
A comment on the problem "smtp settings are correct. Why can't I send email with AT&T?" in Mozilla Messaging:
to be precise, if AT&T cleared passwords they cleared your email server password (which have to correspond to the passwords in Thunderbird) and router password, AT&T doesn't have access to your Thunderbird so can't touch the passwords stored in Thunderbird. – Roland Tanglao, on November 26, 2009 23:54
