Alternative to filter pane

I was just reading another topic concerning filters (http://gsfn.us/t/k1x) and I've finally decided to express what I think about it.

As I see it there's a much better way to use filters than the pane, and that's using it within the library by choosing how to view it (by album, artist, genre, time...) and then expanding (+) or collapsing (-). See the images below (to see the second image properly, please click on it).

I might be wrong, of course, but from what I know there's only one player who does this: MusicMatch Jukebox (at least the versions before Yahoo). MusicMatch was my player until Yahoo "destroyed" it and the functionality I'm talking about is the one I most miss, as I couldn't find it in another player.

This being the case, I would like to suggest this possibility to be taken into consideration. If not integrating it within Songbird, at least having it as an add-on. Please!!!!

I suppose most users are already familiarized with the filter pane, but surely there are others (like me) who could find this solution a good alternative, especially because like this we can have both filters and media views like Media Flow (another of my favorites), not to mention a possible solution for viewing multi-artist albums.

I really enjoyed the Web Media History node. For me, it was a very easy way to get to know music, without effectively downloading it, at least right away. I used it to keep my searches, listening to them later on.

There was, of course, a few things that had to be perfected (for example, giving the user the oportunity to choose which media should be add to the node, as if it was a web playlist, instead of doing it automatically), but I think it was a very interesting option that, from what I know, cannot be found in other media players.

Is there any chance it might become one add-on?
