Simon Green asked a question in Clear Books on December 19, 2009 22:53:
How to record a deposit? If I take, for example, a booking deposit from a customer, how should I record this? I've been taking payments and recording them but not allocating, leaving as an unallocated payment. Is this the best way at the moment?

You can already do this, see:

Although the payment is not yet automagically inserted and assigned to the appropriate invoice, neither are fee's accounted for:

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe ClearBooks only officially works with GBP as the main currency at the moment, but as a Beta Tester you can now enable multi-currency and then choose a different currency for bank accounts:

Also the VAT schemes etc will all be entirely wrong.
And no, it doesn't work form my iphone anyway and thats about as good as a mobile browser gets!-

Full PayPal integration neededFor every order there are 4 transactions to account for:
Initial sales invoice to customer
Payment received from customer
Purchase invoice for transaction fee
Payment for transaction fee
If I take 250 orders paying by credit card (We use PayPal Virtual Terminal) or directly via PayPal, that would be 1000 transactions needing to be entered.
And this isn't a fault of ClearBooks', it's just how PayPal works!
I think if you want to make this really an easy account package, and market to small business and start-ups, your going to need to write some kind of full integration for this. It would definitely give you a bigger USP!
We are considering integrating ClearBooks, PayPal and SugarCRM all together through our website to automate some more because it's going to be unmanageable otherwise!

Purchase Invoice broken in IE8The expenses form/purchase invoice does not work in IE8, and if you put it in compatibility mode it makes the form fields all strange sizes, seems to override the CSS. This is probabaly the same in other parts of the site but I've only used IE8 on that page.

Missing an account on an expense now wipes all the entriesIt's great that you can now just keep clicking add rather than specifying how many lines there should be. However if you miss an account or similar while completing a line and hit submit, it now gets rid of all the lines except the first. Annoying!
