<cliche>There's no such thing as a silly question</cliche>, but nonetheless, I'm glad you figured it out on your own. We're trying to keep what could quickly become a big confusing mess of an interface as clean and understandable as possible. Don't hesitate to ask about something that is even a little bit confusing.

Chris Kasten asked a question in SocialThing on July 09, 2008 01:45:
Unhide that update notifier thingyI inadvertantly hid the update notifier at the top of the page. Now I'm suspecting that wasn't a great idea.
How do I "unhide" it?
Chris Kasten marked one of Thomas' replies in Mozilla as useful. Thomas replied to the problem "LogMeIn not working with Firefox 3".

I've had interesting spots where I'll get lag in all my apps but no CPU spike myself, on OS X. I think it's usually disk access spiking, but that's not really relevant.
I'd suggest, since you're basically saying the bug was not fixed, that you contact Tibor Biczo (his e-mail is available, click his name here) and let him know you're experiencing Firefox issues. Since we don't know if this is the exact same error in bug 405141, I wouldn't want you to post there until we do. However, this definitely matters for bug 426780, feel free to comment with your OS info and firefox build id, which you can get from going to about: in the address bar.
Let us know how this works out, since the main problem right now is from LogMeIn.
Matt Galligan's reply to "Auto refresh would be spiffy" was just promoted to the most useful! Chris Kasten and 3 other people think it's one of the best replies.
In the next iteration, we go out and look for new updates every 15 minutes (for most services, as services like Twitter will have the ability to refresh faster). Whenever these new updates come in, we inform you that there are X new updates available, you can then choose to load them in or ignore it. We decided upon this way of doing it because otherwise, if you're in the middle of reading something at that 15 minute mark, and it automatically loads in new info, it might move you around in the page and become confusing.
Hope this works for you guys!

This appears to only be an issue for me on Ubuntu 8.04 with Firefox 3. FF3 on XP and Vista appear to not have the same issue.
When I login to LogMeIn and choose the machine to remotely control, I receive the alert that I need missing plugins. I click on "Install" and the plugin finder starts up -- and then doesn't find any plugins.
I've tried the manual install of LogMeIn's plugin, but all that appears to accomplish is lock up Firefox (and most other currently running apps too -- yet CPU doesn't spike. Odd).

I already asked the developers about AJAXy push, especially on the iPhone, and they said there were several issues including not wanting to ping the sites they scrape from too often to be annoying. Still, it's the killer feature that would get me to use this ALL the time.
The alternative would be an AIR or Twitterific-style application (which would essentially replace Twitterific for me).
