I just had a situation where the host of a program changed. I had already created a series of shows that were scheduled through the middle of September, and each show had the old host's name in the Episode Description field (a custom field). So I had to go back through and change the host's name in that field, for all FUTURE shows, one show record at a time. Needless to say, that was tedious. A solution that would update a batch of show records all at once would be fantastic. But I wouldn't want a process whereby one global field changes all PAST and FUTURE show records either. Maybe there could be a way of defining what parameter of changes, by date, show record, etc? Just my two cents!-

Paul, we have a "valid video detector" made by Burst Electronics. The model is the VSA, Composite Video Sensor. It costs about $250.00. You plug the output of your Knox switcher into the 'A' input of the VSA, and Carousel into the 'B' input. Then, when the unit senses a loss of video on the 'A' side, it will automatically switch to the 'B' side until video is restored. It's stereo audio-follows-video, so when video switches, so does the audio associated with it.
You may also need a distribution amplifier to get two good feeds of Carousel; one for your normal Knox input, and one for the 'B' input of the VSA. This configuration has worked very well for us, as we are in the same situation as you with all the meetings we cover!
Good luck...

Mr. Softee = Microsoft. Forgive the joke; I know it can be frustrating because I just went through exactly what you're experiencing!!
Use the link Chad provided above and contact Microsoft via email or chat. They will open a case with you, provide you with diagnostic tools to run on your system, and get you back up running. If it's anything like what we went through, it will take several days of back-and-forth emails to get the fix. Make sure you have the Windows genuine serial number that's attached to the outside of your TRMS machine handy. Good Luck!!!
sserre replied on July 07, 2009 20:28 to the question "Email Notification of waiting bulletins." in Tightrope Media Systems:
Here is the subject header that I get from Carousel notification emails:
Bulletin Waiting for Approval - Carousel 5.2.5.88 - 7/6/2009 11:01:47 AM
I wonder if this subject header could contain the name of the user who submitted the bulletin? Something like:
Bulletin Waiting for Approval from 'twilson' - Carousel 5.2.5.88 - 7/6/2009 11:01:47 AM
This would help me easily identify how many different users are submitting messages during busy times, by just looking at subject lines. Sometimes it's just one user sending a bunch of messages all at once. It would be helpful to me... Whaddya think?

Personally, I want to have more control over exactly which programs play on our channels, how many times and when...
Having said that, this idea would be perfect for PSAs and other interstitials, if such an engine could exist to fill the empty programming time BETWEEN long-form video programs. Boy, would that be helpful...
sserre replied on June 21, 2009 02:05 to the question "Timing shows to avoid clipping and other newbie questions" in Tightrope Media Systems:
My guess is it would depend on what hardware you have and how it's configured through cablecast.
For example, we usually edit our full-length programs with a two-second black slug at the beginning, and a 5-second slug at the end. That usually compensates for the one-second pre-roll that our VS4 server needs to start up the file, and another second for any time inconsistencies between the cablecast server and our Sigma router (which does the switching on our channels). I usually add 1-2 seconds to the program length in Cablecast, so the end won't get truncated.
Using that strategy, we usually have pretty smooth transitions from Carousel to programming and vice-versa. Other people may have other strategies?

Custom Cable Display Bulletins for Individual ProgramsFor the 'Coming up Next' and 'See it Again' cable display bulletins, how about a way to customize those for the individual programs that they accompany?
For example, I could create and load a "coming up" bulletin that has logos, graphics, pictures etc. for a specific show, which would compliment that show. Then rely on the generic one for other shows if I don't feel like creating one for every show.
Perhaps that control could be connected to Cablecast based on show ID?-
