my problem is very similar but it keeps popping up a new account setup for a newsgroup server named "news" and nothing else. this happened after i opened up a flash that spawned MILLIONS of popups and thunderbird instances connecting to bogus usenet servers and random crap.
i've tried reinstalling the program but this keeps coming.
