A comment on the question "Better FB Stories from Brighkite - Tiny Preview Sucks" in Brightkite:
I don't see the logic there, since my update isn't bigger than 140 characters, it's just the extra link brightkite tacks on. But I suppose I'll be satisfied when I can customize the link away. – tamaracks, on July 02, 2009 22:29

Are there plans to increase the limit when sending to Facebook? Seems silly to truncate if the service doesn't require it. – tamaracks, on July 02, 2009 20:37

Yes, but even with the link, it seems that Facebook should be able to take more characters? Or is Brightkite just limiting to 140 characters by default? I would also like to see the same customization options for Facebook statuses that are available in the Twitter settings. – tamaracks, on July 02, 2009 20:22

I hope to see some improvement in this area also. Brightkite updates on Facebook do not seem to show up well at all from the Facebook iPhone client. It seems to just say "Name has posted a note @ wherever" and not actually show any useful info. I know, this is partly Facebook's problem (and I admit Facebook has become more and more confusing to me), but if there's any way Brightkite could improve that, it would be great.
supernitin also has a point that the visibility for your actual note on Facebook is quite poor.
Maybe an option to post as a status update on Facebook instead of a note?-

tamaracks replied on July 02, 2009 16:37 to the idea "Suggestion: Selective Cross-posting" in Brightkite:
Ping.fm does this very well, but Brightkite has some nice intergrations that it's a shame to lose. Plus, posting from specific locations is much easier from the Brightkite client. On the iPhone, there is a ping.fm client, but it only posts the nearest street location based on GPS, you can't choose a particular named location. And, I admit, I like the idea of having one less service to worry about.
I post regularly to Twitter, Brightkite, and Facebook. Ideally, I like to post things either to all three or to Twitter and Brightkite together without Facebook. For a while, I used ping.fm to achieve this, but for reasons stated above, I decided to try going back to the Brightkite client. So, now, I post things that go to all three through Brightkite, and if I don't want it to show up on Facebook, I post only to Twitter. Of course, this is just my personal preference of where I want posts to go. You can't beat ping.fm for flexibility in this type of situation, but they do have some reliability issues sometimes.-

A comment on the idea "Can you stop eating the metadata when posting photos to Flickr?" in Brightkite:
I'm less concerned about the location information, since there is an option to tag that through Brightkite. However, there is a lot of other interesting information in the EXIF data, like the model of camera that took the picture. I think it's a shame to lose that, since it produces some interesting statistics on flickr.
I guess the best solution, if possible, would be to edit the EXIF data and remove location if it's private? I don't know how feasible that is, though. – tamaracks, on July 02, 2009 16:25-

A comment on the idea "Sync desktop and mobile unread tweets - possible?" in atebits:
Yeah, it's interesting that, after Lounge and Tweetie have talked about this possibility, TweetDeck was the first to jump in and complete it. But, for me, AIR is ugh. – tamaracks, on June 19, 2009 21:20
A comment on the idea "Growl integration" in atebits:
It basically notifies on whatever Tweetie loads at launch, then proceeds normally afterwards. I think the client just doesn't save that state when it exits. I believe Twitterific for Mac behaves the same way. – tamaracks, on May 27, 2009 14:34
A comment on the idea "Growl integration" in atebits:
Hopefully if this was implemented in Tweetie, it would be a choice. Seems unnecessary to me, at least, to reproduce functionality that already exists in Growl. The question makes me wonder, though, for curiosity's sake, whether any applications decide to make Growl sticky, only because I can't think of any. – tamaracks, on May 06, 2009 23:25
