Twitter not very functional via Web page; blocking fails via all platforms triedVarious problems this morning with Twitter. Some followers saying they have similar issues: Can't DM, tweet, or follow using Twitter Web page (Opera or Flock -- latest versions); can't block suspected spammers on any platform. Following works intermittently for me using Web page, but not for others apparently.

Why do people who I no longer follow still appear in my timeline? Why do people I no longer follow still appear in my timeline?

Hi,
I had cathy233 appear on my followers list this morning about 4:30AM. Blocked her at 4:31AM, whereupon she disappeared from the list.
Also blocked debbie565 successfully then as well.
It's odd that these profiles don't have the same kind of "stickiness" for everyone who's posted to this thread. Perhaps there's something in the code used by these spammers that gets "stickier" the longer you wait before you block them? Seems implausible, but it's the only guess I've got right offhand.
At any rate, the only fake follower who won't disappear for me is novelwrite.

Hi,
I'm trying Katie Parry's idea now. Actually, I thought that was more or less what I was doing when the Twitter Help page redirected me here to GetSatisfaction.com.
Personally, I'd like to see a couple of changes to Twitter that might deal with this problem a bit better:
1) Allow people to opt into only allowing approved followers. I wouldn't like this as the default option, but it'd be a nice feature to add.
2) Require profiles that follow large numbers of people to have lots of followers as well. Concretely, to follow between 100 and 200 people, I think you should need to have at least half as many followers as people you follow. To follow more than 200 people, you should need more followers than people you follow. Spam be gone!

Just for comparison's sake, the Get Satisfaction confirmation email arrived at my email inbox in one or two seconds. It's been 20 minutes, give or take, since I signed up with Profilactic, but that email hasn't arrived yet. I've sent an email to feedback@profilactic.com, asking you to add me in manually when you get a chance. Is that possible as a workaround?

Where's that confirmation email, folks? How can I get a confirmation email sent to me? Neither signing up nor hitting the "Send me another confirmation email" link worked.
