A comment on the idea "Last.fm heavy integration" in Songbird:

i was just looking to have the last.fm main button features added to songbird, maybe thru and addon. i would love to basically have the ui of the last.fm app integrated to songbird instead of songbird linking and using the last.fm app separately. – tehsagemaster, on August 14, 2008 18:34

use an xml file for syncing addons
use an xml file for syncing addons. not sure how to explain it, but instead of backing up all the addons, make an xml file or somekind of file that list the addons, and urls for each. the idea is to save space, and when syncing the addons, the latest updated versions of the addon will be downloaded and installed.

KDE and Gnome Support "revised from previous post"
KIO Slaves are used in the KDE desktop environment. These slaves are protocols handlers that help kde applications have proper access to files over these protocols, for example, get files off of the server in your home. That server maybe a samba linux server, so the KIO smb slave will handle the communication for the KDE app as if it were looking at a directory. Another way of looking at it is, when you go to the open option in an application (KDE for ex.), it bring up a dialog box that shows access to the file structure and can access them files in those directories, the problem is network protocols are not seen unless there is support in that application for handling network protocols and that is where KIO slaves come in, they mount a directory into that dialog box and make the application think it is accessing a local file or directory. This whole process is similar in GNOME with Gnome-vfs (being discontinued), and now GIO/GVFS, which is being push to be cross platform. The only other alternative to these ways of handling network protocols is fuse, but that is usually installed by the user, and is not easy for someone that doesn't know how to do anything other that open up apps use the basic controls. So my question is can this support for both KIO slaves (smb, ftp, etc), and GIO/GVFS be integrated into Songbird through addons. – You, 5 minutes ago

tehsagemaster replied on August 12, 2008 13:01 to the idea "mini drop/popup list/webpage window for mini player" in Songbird:

    tehsagemaster
my idea is to have a button that slides out a window that is still attached to the mini player (sorta like a preview window). This windows will show for example if your in shoutcast, the windows will show the list of shoutcast streams and the genre tab list. Something similar to library, and webpages. Also, the list will go either above or below the mini bar depending on the position of the player on the monitor.

    Hope the modified screenshots help.

i should've said as an addon, that would be better, because not everyone uses last.fm, same would go for a pandora addon, or any other type of addon, – tehsagemaster, on August 08, 2008 19:57

    mysql server
A two part add-on that would allow setup and connection with a mysql database that contains the list of songs on the server. in detail, a server that has your songs (50,000+), and piece of software that will setup a mysql database and create a server for songbird to connect to, then on the client/desktop songbird has the other part of the addon or has the feature integrated to connect to and access that songbird specific mysql database for fast searching of songs especially for a person like me with 45000+ which easy corrupts on sqlite and forces me to rebuild the archive and wait 5 hrs again to finish.

    easy enable/disable features
for features added, maybe myspace or facebook integration, have a list that would allow them features to be enabled/disabled so that way they are not in the way if there are features you don't use and don't want in the way
