I have the same problem, and I can personally verify it started pre-weekend: I was trying to update on Thursday while out with some friends, but when I got online later, I realised NONE of my texts made it through.
My phone was all set up & functioned for almost two months, but now I can't even re-connect my device (UTStarcom Shuttle by Virgin Mobile).

I've opened a support request about it & sent a Tweet to @VirginMobileUS, but I have yet to receive answers. :/

Alright, I don't mean to drag this out anymore than it seems to have been already, but I need this clarified, as it is driving me insane:

-If I Tweet over 140 characters from the Twitter website, it can't be seen in full at all?
-When I try to click any of the "three dots" on any post, my own or otherwise, there's not even a link. In other words, nothing to click, so nothing reacts. (If anything, it pulls a Microsoft Word & highlights on me.)
-A similar topic on this site suggested clicking the time the Tweet was posted to see the full post. You get the individual post, but no full view. Is that because you HAVE to use SMS, IM or another API platform to make posts over 140 characters?

Please help.

I just discovered this issue today! Funny thing is that my Tweets update my Facebook status via an app. I added, and when I checked my profile, the periods showed up there, although not on Twitter!

I'm glad that Alt code was brought up: I'm using that from now on!
