ThomasHan replied on January 09, 2009 04:16 to the question "#something code" in Twitter:
hi @seb - those are called hash or hashtags, many services offer a way to aggregate all the tweets with a certain hash and display them in various formats.
e.g. http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%2...

ThomasHan replied on June 13, 2008 17:52 to the question "First time caller. What's "retweeting" mean?" in Twitter:
Hi Liz,
Q: If I sent your message, it would go out to everyone who follows me, right?
A: Yes.
Q: But there is no way I can send a message to someone else's followers without them retweeting my message, right?
A: Correct.
Think of it like email. You cannot send to my group-email-alias (similar to my followers), unless I explicitly forward your email to them all (thus the retweet). Not sure if that's a good example, but I hope it makes sense :)
Hee, feel free to ask for clarification if I'm still not clear. Oh and there are hundreds (if not more) people monitoring this forum, so you're in good hands.
ThomasHan replied on June 13, 2008 15:34 to the question "First time caller. What's "retweeting" mean?" in Twitter:
Hi Liz,
You can always manually just type in "retweeting @Liz I am awesomre". There is no *official* way of retweeting, Twhirl is just one of many clients out there that does this.
As always, Twitter is nothing more than simple plain text, so you can send whatever you want.
happy twittering...

ThomasHan replied on June 12, 2008 20:33 to the question "First time caller. What's "retweeting" mean?" in Twitter:
@Liz,
Retweeting is like forward-an-email. You 'forward' some one else's tweet by doing a retweet.
There are many clients out there and Twhirl is an example that has 'retweet' feature, http://www.twhirl.org/
Does this help?

ThomasHan replied on June 09, 2008 15:18 to the question "Twitter IM Status" in Twitter:
Hi Russ,
In addition to their official status blog which I assume is the one you're talking about above.
Also as of now, when I go to the main twitter.com page, I also see under my profile's "Currently" (last tweet), this text
"We're working to restore IM services to all users. Thanks for your patience!"
ThomasHan replied on June 09, 2008 15:16 to the question "how to edit twitter's text?" in Twitter:
Hi tootsha,
If I understand you correctly. Do you mean how to "go back" and edit a tweet you made? If that's what you're asking, the short answer is that it's not possible.
You would have to delete the tweet (on the web by clicking the trash icon) and then re-tweet. But keeping in mind that those we use clients other than the web (i.e. Twitterrific, IM when it's up, SMS, etc) would've received it already and you wouldn't be able to take that back.
Hope I answered what you're asking for.

Hi Lisa,
Yeah, login in and go to "Following" link (http://twitter.com/friends) and then you can remove people you are following
