it should be active since yesterday evening. Please let us know if it's working for you. – Tijn, on November 26, 2009 13:44
A comment on the problem "Jabber contacts won't sync properly" in Soocial:
we solved it, it is scheduled to be deployed to our servers after the current big updates. (e.g. a few days). Thanks for reporting! – Tijn, on November 25, 2009 15:52

Hi Chiel,
Just a small message to inform you that we have tracked down the source of the problem. (It is a problem with text-field encoding/decoding in the Mac Addressbook.) I hope to have written a workaround for it by tomorrow. If that is successful, the sync servers will get an update in a few days.
A comment on the question "No SyncML 1.2? Please let it not be so!" in Soocial:
no some googling revealed that it only understands SyncML1.2 :-( – Tijn, on September 12, 2009 18:02

Hah, tell me about it. And that's only one hard part of synchronization! :-)
Soocial contacts do have an id. You could retrieve the vcard for a certain contact (you know it's id) and add an X-SOOCIAL-ID field to that vcard before storing it. We are working without UID's by the way, we use mapping tables. UID's are not very convenient when almost every phone deletes them.

Ah, are you using thruflo's wrapper? ( http://getsatisfaction.com/soocial/to... ) Cool!
> Is there an actual traditional forum for Soocial dev where I could ask questions and get help?
Not really, but feel free to post any questions here or email me directly (tijn at the-well-know-syncing-company-dot-com). I will try to help you out.

Hi James,
We're really enthusiastic about this library you wrote.
Yes, I believe the API has changed a little since the docs were written. (Oops, it seems to be a bit neglected in the Soocial-family of software.) Soon it will hange again... it has to be improved since the underlying classes at Soocial are improving too :-p. I'm making a note to notify you early on when this will happen.
Oh, by the way, feel free to ask for anything, we're always busy but we'll make an effort to provide you with any information you need.

I'm the one to implement it...
and I got called away to fix other things (*cough*blackberry*cough*) and more things in our data model and how we handle updates from devices. I'm sorry about it guys! Those other things really had priority (and still do). SyncML 1.2 is really high on my personal wish list.

>I would like to see that if the first name and lastname field is empty that the contact wil be stored alphabeticaly under organisation name.
Yes, you're right. This should have been the default already. Since it was easy to fix, I just did.
(It's not deployed to the servers yet, it will be soon; give us a few days. It might take a bogus-update on such a contact to get the sorting order right since we're using some cached values for that. Just adding and removing a telephone number would do the trick, or .. simply syncing can also work.)

A comment on the question "blackberry syncml and nexthaus syncje" in Soocial:
"Error: 506 Error while processing message from server: No response available" sounds like our response never arrives at the phone or that the phone does not understand our response at a lower level. (wbxml?) – Tijn, on November 17, 2008 13:56
Tijn replied on November 17, 2008 13:54 to the question "blackberry syncml and nexthaus syncje" in Soocial:
yeah well...
Nexthaus says, creds and alert 200 ("let's do a fast sync")
We say, status 212 ("ok, logged in") and status 508 ("sorry, can't do fast sync since you never synced before"), and alert 201 ("try a slow sync")
And then your Nexthaus-client never replies... :-(
(I might add that every phone can handle this. It's a completely normal beginning of a sync session.)
