A comment on the idea "Can I include an external HTML file into my web page? Answer: Yes, you can... here's how:" in Yola:
i'm sure it is good or normal practice but its not good for seo -- so it depends on the content whether its a good idea to use it or not. – UK Duke, on December 06, 2009 18:44

NIce one Boomer.
A rep posted a similar method a while back but without the converter - its really tempting to have site control of the menu but i dont think i'm going to use it for my main menu,
2 reasons, 1 if the browser has java disabled it wont show and 2, google wont read the pages as possible sitelinks.
But it is a great tool for other elemnets of pages - i will be using it somehow for sure.
You might know this Boomer, whats the URL you use for css, html and .js files when they are locating resources. I know that if you use the full url it will work to but i gues its already in the resources folder so it would find images etc. from after the resources directory. e.g filename, jpg rather than resources/filename.jpg
Anyway its just as easy to use a full URL.

Hi John,
I was off line yesterday.
Ok so first...
1. add this to the end of the code </iframe>
2. make it 650px height.
3. Is the side bar code showing as 1 line in notepad? -- If it is go back and re copy it, this time click enter on the first line of the html editor (in Yola) and after the opening < style= > tag. That should allow you to copy it over in its corrected lines.
4. Change all the image URL's in the css to include the full address - http ://theteenscene.info/resources/sidebar/EXAMPLE.png
That should do it John, let me know how it goes.

Thanks Jeremy,
It looks a bit different than the normal cleanslate style - even the menu is the built in version,
What i have done with the twitter feed is what i think yola should do in house (rss readers)
and the round border div's should be an in house feature.
If you need any help with pages you make from the Yola site builder let me know. I'd love the chance to make a Yola page.

thanks Emmy, A bit of technical info just for my own learning purposes would be much appreciated.
I love draining the Yola tech team of their valuble knowledge :)

A comment on the question "Is this possible?" in Yola:
its almost worked - you just need to get the css back in line and add a little bit of code to stop the use of the scroll bars, you could tidy up the actual sidebar code aswell.
If you bump this thread tomorrow - i will help you tidy it up.

Hi Emmy,
I had a quick look at the 404 page, the link back is set as just 'hexham.info', so the browser presumes its another page in the same directory, all it needs is the http:// added and it would work.
Seems like an easy fix to an important porblem. If you could get an official explination of the reason its not fixed and any complexities i probably dont see that would be great.
Thanks Emmy, Lee.

So John, Follow these step by step and it should work.
1. Open Notepad
2. Copy all the code for the sidebar into it. Including all the div's for the box its surrounded by and the css for the box.
3. go to: File > Save As > Change the 'save as type' to All Files > and save it sidebar.html
4. Upload that html file to Yola
5. on any page you want it displayed add this
<iframe src="http://theteenscene.info/resources/sidebar.html" width=200 height=600 frameborder="0">
Change the height and width to fit.
-->
the problems you may encounter are:
- the div for the sidebars box has no width value so it may expand across the page - easy fixed
- the css may not locate the box images - easy fixed.
Basically try the 5 steps and see how it goes - if you need any help along the way just ask.
Remember you will have to publish the site after uploading the html file.

Hi,
Clean slate is a good basic style.
Remember you can change the style of the background to any colour you like.
I have just made this as a test design for the yola tv site -
http://yolatvdesign.yolasite.com/ - That is done with cleanslate style (the white 1).
Theres a style guide somewhere, i dont know the link, someone else might leave it.
Or you can click change style in the site builder and preview how each style will look.

what are you trying to do? If your just changing the link colour you wont need to edit anything. Unless you have specified that colour then it wont work. – UK Duke, on December 04, 2009 21:29
A comment on the question "CSS code to reference a style sheet" in Yola:
You only add the above code once, on the top of the page.
You have to have an element on the page that has a class attached to it.
Also remember that the css file will not be in the same folder as the yola set up so if you have any url's in your css use the full url to locate the resource.
