It seems the Macintosh Plazer (on all my 3 Macs - PPC and Intel, Tiger and Leopard) cannot load a CSS file: It won't show neither avatars nor any text formatting. Can this be remedied?
I have been failing to notify plazes of my location using my mobile for the last couple of months.
I have a new phone, and have over the last 24 hours tried to
create a new plaze with the UK SMS number
create a new plaze with the wrong german number (well, that won't work)
create a noted plaze with the German Number, this was at a plaze I have been to before
You can check back my trazes to see if any have worked recently, my memory says no.
I used @ throughout. The last test was to see if the sms required an activity string. I am now using a Vista 64bit laptop and so have not configured the plazer to work on the laptop. SMS and web are the only interfaces
I have just noticed that my plazes are not showing up in my facebook feed. The application is no longer installed and I can't find any application using the search strings plazes|plaze|plazer.
I know that with the Nokia merge, you probably have a lot of work and that the #1 goal is the mobile phone integration.
However, Geode (Mozilla) integration could be nifty: Plazes could show the closest plazes to choose from a list. First the closest one and so on.
A Fire Eagle integration could offer something similar (as proposed by others on GetSatisfaction).
Having the chance to select a day/time in the future for a plaze, what about sending the RSS at that time instead of doing it immediately? Useful especially for the push on twitter and the use of the feed in lifestreaming sites.
I just viewed a demo of the 'Where' app for the iPhone and it looks like an appealing alternative for geo-presence enthusiasts. I'd rather stick with Plazes, but a nice, feature rich iPhone app is a must-have.
I moved home but still use the same networking setting. Thus, Plazes detects me at the old adddress. I do not want to change it, but rather want to make the old address historic. In the old interface there was a solution for this, but I cannot find anything in the current user interface.
What about integrating Plazes with a maps software like Nokia Maps? It would be enough to add a choice to the menu: once a location is selected we could choose 'plaze me here' and open a new page on the browser with chances to add details about that plaze and write the sentence to tweet.
The Plazer (at least the Windows 2.1.2711.24648 version) seems to check in repeatedly when I let it automatically check in, even if my network connection has not actually changed. This is especially a problem when I'm on our flaky company WLAN access point which looses connection very often.
I now run the Plazer in manual mode because of the excessive number of "bogus" check ins I get, but I often forget to check in when I would have wanted to. Could another mode be added please? A kind of semi-automatic mode? Functionality would be something like this:
1) When automatic check-in would actually change our Plaze to different Plaze as our most recent activity, simply check-in automatically like it does now.
2) When these two Plazes would come out as one and the same, notify the user (in the OS default way, like a notify bubble in the status area or "MSN/Outlook notification toast" in Windows) about it, giving the choice of check-in or not
This would cut back on useless duplicate check-ins immensely I think.
I see scrollbar and layout problems in the "Add a Plaze to this group" function in IE7 on XP SP2. The "Add" links are only half visible (they did not work, but just now they did seem to work all of sudden) and the scrollbar to the right does not seem to be attached to the places showing.
I have a workaround of going to a place and using the "Add to group" function there so this is not really that high of a priority, but this is sort of frustrating.
As you encourage others to consume our rss/atom feeds of where we are, it becomes more and more important that you, or we place a filter in front of the feed. This would pass the message on, or discard it.
I suggest that such a filter forwards the first of day (TZ aware of course) and any change. I am considering implementing a personal filter using planetplanet or venus software but this should really by something that you implement on your servers.
These filters would eliminate duplication caused by plazers as they are put to sleep, have the lids closed, drop and recover their wifi etc. etc., or as people move from one computer to another for those of us with more than one
It seems as if your map widget and facebook applications have access to this sort of filter today.
Bonus points
You could offer several rules based filters and either ask people to turn the filters on, or change their default, which would/may lead to a lower volume of messages in the feeds, and hence lower resources within the plazes server complex and the various consumer systems.
The failure to offer this functionality/feature inhibits the adoption of some of your technology, either the feeds, or the plazer.
I've mooded myself as unsure, because I strongly believe that this would be a great improvement and its not very high up my personal project list.
I have been using SMS (USA: +1 718 407 9566) to post to Plazes, and the last time it worked was on Sat. October 4th, is there something wrong with the number or... thanks
