Mergin plazes
Is it possible to merge 7 plazes to just one? I'm seen 7 plazes for the same one (it's a city): Madrid, Spain.

Inappropriate?Plazes is a collaborative platform: everyone can contribute by creating and editing new Plazes.
This also means that, right now, you can't merge several Plazes into one. In particular, it's not possible to delete a Plaze, which might not be relevant for you but for other users.
Later we will also come up with a solution to merge duplicate Plazes.
For now, just pick up the Plaze that you consider more relevant for you, maybe edit it to add some more information, or create your own.
I’m confident

Inappropriate?I know deletion/merging opens a can of worms, but it would really allow users to improve the overall data quality and experience in Plazes in a lot of ways, so I really hope it can get added soon.
I’m hoping...

Inappropriate? You need to have a merge plaze function.
Here's another example, Edinburgh Airport has 4 entries. While what you say about people doing what they want is fair, this means that the collective wisdom about places is diminished. Maybe you should store proposals to merge until a threshold is reached (the threshold could be based on Karma if you still collect it.). Otherwise ask all visitors what they think, which cold be a bit poor if people have stoped using it.
I’m feeling this is an important positive addition

Inappropriate?hi guys,
you are absolutely right, the possibility to merge plazes would be a great thing. sadly, that would mean almost re-writing all the code from scratch, and considering that, as peshir said, user-triggered merging of plazes would be a really big mess of a can of worms, there won't be any news in the near future about that. however, it always comes up also in our meetings. we won't forget about it. promise.
I’m feeling your pain

Inappropriate?Maybe merging is not really needed at this time.
What about just referencing a certain plaze to another one (this could be data supplied by users: "This plaze looks like a duplicate of that one to me"). This info could be shown on plaze pages, just so there are links to possible duplicates. If people then find a plaze that (many) people have designated a duplicate of another plaze, te page would mention that (like "The plazes community suggests that [Other plaze] could potentially be more relevant"). Just that.
Then you can later on try and decide what to actually do with this information, if anything. Possibly use it a voting system to determine what could/should be mergable. Who knows? Just starting to gather data like this could be good first step. -
Inappropriate?merging means that comments, pictures and tags are available to all visitors, you don't have to go looking to see if there are duplicates.
There remains the problem of those who want to say that they are either
at Heathrow Airport
at Heathrow Airport T3
at Heathrow Airport, Virgin Lounge
or even travel through them. This will become more important as finding out what your friends are doing via phone in real time becomes possible.
I’m unsure
-
Inappropriate?What about creating sub-plazes)
You can be at Heathrow Airport, or you can be more specific and be at the T3, Virgin Lounge sub plazes.
Like for campus, we can have the university/college name and then we can have libraries, lecture halls, residence halls as sub plazes.
And merging plazes is really necessary, it can be annoying when each person creates a new plaze for the same place.
I’m frustrated

We will definitively consider all your ideas to improve Plazes
