On the iPhone it appears to be recording but it never goes live and it's not there after I hit stop either????

I was having the same issue. They must be getting hammered, because the videos I thought weren't being recorded are all now showing up. I'm guessing they can only stream x amount live, and everything else gets uploaded and queued. Give it time, and be careful.. if you hit record it IS recording, regardless of whether it's showing on the web site or not.

i'm having the same issue. Even though the 1st qik show up and run live just fine, the 2nd qik however, wasnt streamed and doesnt show up after the recorded (at least a this moment anyway, August 14, 2008 04:12AM)

I'm able to load the app on my iPhone past login which automatically signed me in (3G vers 2.01 over wifi), but the videos don't publish and nothing is transmitting. I've reinstalled qik several times, restarted with a new download notice IM from the Qik website and still nothing. Nothing is live or uploading. What's up, buttercup?

Seems to work fine on wifi but nothing ever gets sent to Qik from 3G.

Ok, something diff happened...

Turned off my wifi and used Qik on 3G for the first time. It said (for the first time) that I was going to share my feed live to the public. (It showed data transfer and everything)

I recommend anyone having the same trouble to try turning off wifi temporarily and attempting to live cast again.

*update* it actually saved a video.
Recordings still aren't consistent in their uploading, but shows promise.
Will try wifi again soon.

I'm running into the same issues. This morning at home I was able to record a short video and it went live. Since then, nothing. The app seems to be functioning fine but my videos don't make it online and I never see my account streaming. Assumed it was a firewall issue at the office but we opened a number of ports and have been able to use the Flixwagon iPhone app as well as other web based video apps, still no Qik. Got mine working. It was a firewall issue after all. Opened up port 11528 (TCP) and everything started working just fine. Really impressed by this app now that I've had more time to work with it.

Interesting if it is indeed a port requirement as kevinthompson states. Can Qik confirm this? If so would be good to have a connection error popup within the application so a user knows their stream isn't being served/saved.

Can't wait to get home and give it a shot :)

I might be having this problem too. All my videos are limited to like 1 frame or just a second worth of footage. username = BermanOC , iPhone 3G with full coverage bars...

There was an updated version of the software released today, and after updating it sent one video, but wouldn't send again until I restarted Qik.

The port on the computer trying to access the recorded video needs to be changed? I'm slightly confused? Where do I change to 11528. Sorry, I swear I'm not a total N00B

Will be trying to duplicate all of these issues. If your firewall settings are strict, you will have to enable port 11528... But in most cases you will not have to do this.

Look for software updates through Cydia often. We're working on the Qik client around the clock. :)

Same thing here and it's not a port thing for me...using an iPhone 3G and i am using the 3G network not wifi...it worked and worked then stopped after today...

I just had this same problem. I fixed it by Clicking on the reinstall link and then reinstall the app through Cydia. This forced it to reconnect using the new number. I think I must have accidentally clicked reinstall or must have deleted the test at some point.

Are you guys having these same problems over WiFi (with TCP port 11528 opened)?

I've been doing a ton of tests lately with Qik, pinging, wget, etc and I'm about ready to call shenanigans on AT&T about how stable their 3G connections are.

So, users who are having this problem that have access to a WiFi connection with port forwarding, please re-test using that connection. If you don't know how to forward ports tell me what brand/model router you are using and I should be able to help.

I used Qik on edge and watched the bitrate steadily drop to 0, closed qik, re-opened, and re-streamed, and it stayed 0 the whole time (and never appeared on the site, why should it?). It seems that some of the previous streaming content was still being uploaded so therefore the new stuff was delayed.

Flixwagon does it better, but only barely, because they just buffer it the whole time instead of trying to adjust the bitrate, thus while a 5 minute video could take an hour to upload (and kill your battery life), it will get there (if you don't close the app by hitting the home button). Qik doesn't really have much in the way of telling the user how much actually got uploaded.

I could see my video on my profile page, but did not seem to save it and now its back to showing random vids.

Having the same problem. I open the app and click the record button all the while I'm not streaming live despite the iphone 3g saying I am. I go to the website and it takes forever for the vids to finally appear. One time there was a "live" sticker at the edge of one of my qiks while I was streaming live but the qik highlighted as live was shot several minutes before.

I opened port 11528, and checked with cydia, I have the latest version.

It won't let me download videos from my iphone. It keeps telling me they are "pending upload" and then when I try to share them on facebook it tells me "login to qik.com and edit networkds to share with facebook". I have already done that.

So the iphone is not supported for live streaming? Only uploaded video?

I'm also having this problem. I'm using an AT&T blackberry. When I record from my bb, the video appears online after I've stopped recording. I am hoping to get the streaming feature working soon.
