Got RescueTime... Lost email access!
I downloaded RescueTime and it works great. Here's the thing: I lost access to my Thunderbird email (Error: "Could not connect to server; the connection was refused"). I can still access the internet. Any idea how to test whether RescueTime is causing this? How to fix it?

Inappropriate?RescueTime doesn't make any changes to your computer network settings, it has its own internal network settings if it needs additional information (like proxy settings). These network settings shouldn't cause a problem with other applications, and by default they are disabled.
However, to make sure RescueTime isn't interfering with your external applications like Thunderbird, you should be able to Exit or Quit RescueTime, and re-try Thunderbird.
I don't use Thunderbird very often, so I don't know if I could much more help there. I did see a post from the Thunderbird forums that said this is commonly caused by Firewall programs and listed a link for more information: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firewalls
Hope that helps you out! -
Inappropriate? You guys rock. I got a 1:1 email from Tony and this posting from you, Joe, today. And: problem solved! I tested RT as suggested and, you're right, it's not an RT issue. It looks like Norton Anti-Virus downloaded an update while I was installing RT that interfered with Tbird. Thanks guys.
I’m good
