Mac data collector hangs up, can't get it to work
The data collector is unbelievably slow, I always get the spinning ball. It's so slow I never managed to see the preferences, so I can't set my account info and it never worked for me!
(CPU usage is minimal, practically zero. I'm using Firefox as my primary browser, MacBook Pro 2.5GHz, 4GB ram, Mac OS X 10.5.5)

Inappropriate?When RescueTime first starts up, a couple of things happen. First it checks to see if there are any updates available. Sometimes network or server activity can cause this to take more than a couple of seconds, in which time RescueTime may be unresponsive. Though, the worst case is that it only causes an issue for about 30 seconds.
Another check that RescueTime makes is to see if assistive devices are enabled in your System Preferences. By default it should prompt you with a dialog message and open up your System Preferences for you, but if that fails it will cause RescueTime to hang.
You can manually enable access for assistive devices with the following steps:
- Click on the Apple Menu and select "System Preferences..."
- In the System Preferences window click on "Universal Access" (it's near the bottom right of the window)
- In the Universal Access window check the box labeled "Enable access for assistive devices"
- Restart RescueTime

Inappropriate?Thanks for the quick response Joe, unfortunately this didn't work. Access for assistive devices was enabled. I did try disabling it and enabling it again, didn't do anything... (btw, I didn't get a dialog to enable it) -
