Taskbar Icon and Properties Menu
I really like this program and I think you're doing a great job here.
I'm using it on Windows XP and I have two requests/suggestions:
1. Hide Taskbar Icon - this is one I'm truely missing. I don't mind the program running in the background, but I do not want it to appear on the taskbar, as I don't use it frequently.
2. The preferences window keeps popping up after windows restart. When I use alt+tab I see it and need to close it. This is quite annoying.
Thanks and keep up the good work!

Inappropriate?Thanks for the feedback!
For hiding the taskbar icon, what I find works well is to right click on the Task Bar and select the Notification tab. From there, you can customize the RescueTime icon to be always hidden.
For the preference window being hidden but shown in the alt+tab view, we know about this issue. I've tried a couple of methods for allowing RescueTime to initialize and then remove itself from the Task Manager, but I was not happy with the results. We will continue looking for a workable solution to this issue.
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?Hey there!
I agree on both fronts, in theory...
Unfortunately, one of our biggest concerns with RescueTime is that someone (whether it's a spouse or a boss) could use it in an "evil" way by installing it on someone's computer without telling them...
I think we could be a bit less in-your-face but still make sure that users are aware of RescueTime, though-- we'll work on that. Thanks for the feedback!

Inappropriate?Hi Tony and Joe,
Thanks for the quick reply!
Regarding hiding it - that's not really what I had in mind :)
But as to the "evil" issues, I totally see your point here, but I'm sure you will not be held responsabile (legal wise) for any misuse, and give the user the flexibility he wants.
Thanks again and good luck!

Inappropriate?Everytime the computer starts up, you could make a message saying,
"Rescue time is monitoring your computer.
[OK] [Close (or uninstall) RescueTime]"
That way, is somebody used it for EEEVVVIIILLL then the victim can [Close RescueTime] ! And if somebody used it for good, they can click [OK]!!!
I’m confident that my answer will work
