Is there a way to permanently clear the timeline in Seesmic Desktop 0.3?

Is there a way to permanently clear the timeline in Seesmic Desktop 0.3? I have 3 accounts there, I clear the timeline with the trash icon for each of them, clear the private messages and @replies, but when I restart the program all the messages come back.

Is there a better way to mark messages as read? I think of clearing the timeline as archiving messages (I know it's not the archive function) or marking them as read, but having them come back on restarting the program makes it difficult to see what's already been read.
