Ping.fm support
Ping.fm support would be the best. Tired of typing the same message into several windows.

Inappropriate?a lot of people, myself included, use ping.fm. i'm not sure why it needs to be added to twhirl?
I’m happy
-
easy then we can post from ONE window on the desktop -
Inappropriate?Thanks for the suggestion!
-
Inappropriate?I really hope this gets added. Having to switch to the ping.fm site, use my phone and ping.fm mobile, or a seperate client (like Spaz) to post to ping.fm rather then Twhirl (which I adore) is criminal! :-D
I’m hopeful that this idea will get implimented
-
Try using one of their IM bots (they're on just about everything). It's a lot more convenient than using another a client. -
Inappropriate? Thanks for this, however, I do not want to use an IM client, the main reason being that an IM client will not tell me how many characters I have left like Twhirl will. Thanks for trying, but my original request strongly remains.
I’m sad that this idea won't solve my true request
-
Inappropriate?I would like to see this, too. Currently I either use the webpage, or I compose the message in twhirl, Ctrl-A+Ctrl-X, then paste it into an IM window. As a previous comment said, IM windows don't tell you how close you're getting to 140 chars.

Inappropriate?I just got this idea myself, and came here looking to post it. Good thing I searched first... :D
Anyway, I think it would be nice to be able to link a Ping.fm account to accounts on Twitter, Pownce, Jaiku, Identi.ca, and FriendFeed, and have updates automatically cross-posted whenever I send a message to one account.
For example, if I have accounts configured for Twitter, FriendFeed, and Identi.ca, and I update in Twitter, I would like instead for my update to go to Ping.fm for distribution through my default ping set there. Same if I send a dent on Identi.ca or post a message on FriendFeed. Of course, the same logic employed in Twitter's current cross-posting support for Pownce and Jaiku would be useful (send @replies and directs directly [no pun intended] through the Twitter API).
Does my example make sense? Is it possible? A good/bad idea? Please let me know.
I’m pretty sure my idea is a good one, but waiting for someone to give me a second opinion
-
Inappropriate?it realy is annoying that we STILL dont have Ping.fm support for saying Twhirl is not cross-platform. the moment they started playing with friendfeed and identi.ca they should have added Ping.fm for ease of use for the customers
i HATE having to repeat myself
i HATE having to repeat myself
Add Ping.fm already
I’m confused

Twhirl is a free application. I happen to consider it one the best examples of an AIR cross-platform application to have yet be written and released (it's the only app that gives me a *truly* consistent interface across Linux, Mac OSX and Windows-- even Java apps like Eclipse, or Firefox/Thunderbird have noticeable differences on Mac OSX). But it is free, and we all benefit from that. This kind of demanding attitude doesn't inspire the developers to help you, I promise. As a developer of free software myself, I would be more likely to delay any feature you request with such a tone of voice just out of spite. -
Ro11z, while I appreciate your passion for this feature, I have to agree with Randy, that the demanding attitude is not inspirational. That said, we will not spite you... we simply have to weigh new features against all the other requests, and our internal roadmap. Sorry that we haven't been able to add this one quick enough. -
hey ild be willing and happy to pay for a client that gives me ease of use with all the services out there. so bringing the (its free) augument dont wash with me. its just they to remember ease of use more than fuctionality.
just look @ the iphone to see what i mean
dont mean any offence -
Hey Ro11z, no worries, no offense taken. =) We just have to prioritize features right now. Everyone's comments and suggestions help in that process. The best thing you can do to affect the priority of a feature is to be sure and encourage anyone else you know who is interested in the feature to come here and click on "I like this idea". -
I understand where everyone is coming from on this process. My thoughts are these:
Yes, if I could pay even up to like $10 ~$15 for a product that would connect to Ping.fm from something like Adobe Air and allow me to post using a character count (and really, that's ALL it needs to be) I'd be happy. If there were more bells and whistles, sure... but it doesn't need to have more (for me).
But Twhirl is not a paid service, it's free, and so we have to treat it as such - same as you would respect someone who *gives* you something... you don't often place more demands (not requests, demands) back upon them in return.
While, yes, this feels like something super-easy to implement (to me) and makes me slightly scratch my head going "really? it's still not implemented yet?" I also accept that Twhirl is free and therein I can't demand or require as much from it (if anything). All I can do is nicely request and make my voice heard.
At the same time, if I find a product that will allow me to do similar functions to Twhirl and is $10 ~ $15 AND posts to ping.fm ... I'd likely switch in a heartbeat and Twhirl would lose a diehard customer that promotes them every chance I can get.
It's just an honest part of the world about this situation. One I respect and admire, while also treating with honestly for both myself and the product I use and adore. -
Inappropriate?Even more people are commenting over on the Ping.fm satisfaction page about integration with Twhirl, I told them to come here but it might be even more helpful to look at their interest too http://getsatisfaction.com/pingfm/top...
I’m happy to be sharing information
-
They're commenting about supporting twurl.nl as a URL-shortening service, actually. -
Inappropriate? If and only IF, you add ping.fm support to twhirl, make posting to it a separate PING-POST button in the UI, on all of the configured profiles. That way I can post to the community I'm following, or pushing it to all that I have configured on ping.
If you don't add it, I open a browser window and keep doing it old skool.
Lowering the barrier to ping.fm posting, may not be a good thing for ublogging in general...
Love twhirl, repeat LOVE twhirl!
I’m encouraged about this possibility
-
Inappropriate?Twhirl is a great tool (thank you) but it can be better. I have added my vote to add this feature. Pleaseeeeeee.
I’m thankful
