How can you make a form in Socrata like you could in the original Blist application?

Sorry that I haven't gotten back to you sooner. We've temporarily disabled the ability to create form widgets like we had in blist until we complete the new and improved Socrata form widgets. However, your existing blist forms will continue to work until we retire the old blist application.
I apologize for any trouble that this causes you.
I’m apologetic

That would be good, since this the main reason, I am trying this out. If you want something to add, it would be nice if you can set the form to notify the creator when someone fills it in. -
Inappropriate? Thanks for the response. Do you know when the widgets will be re enabled?
I’m thankful

Sorry, but I don't have a specific timeline for when form widgets will be re-enabled. We're evaluating how they fit into the development timeline of our new product. -
Inappropriate?I'll be happy if you have it up and running before you discontinue blist at the end of the month.
If not, I will look for another application.

To be honest, if what you're looking for is just a solution to build web forms to collect data, I think you should try Wufoo (http://wufoo.com/). They have a great form creation tool and their basic tier is free.
Thanks,
Chris

Inappropriate?I am feeling puzzled again... why not keeping up the old one until all the features are enabled in the new one??
I’m frustrated

Socrata is an entirely new product with an entirely new codebase. We've designed it around our new Social Data Discovery platform, and, although we do want to re-release a new and improved form widget on our new platform, it hasn't become a high-enough priority yet. All our efforts are currently focused on providing the best Social Data Discovery platform for our end users. See this FAQ entry for more info: http://gsfn.us/t/7gfw
Thanks,

Inappropriate?Indeed! I agree with you, I had not noticed that the old one will still be available but only unsupported
This is enough :) thanks
I’m confident

Inappropriate?Transferring to Wufoo works for me at this time. The downside to wufoo is that you are only allowed 100 entries per month for a free account, which normally is fine but there will be at least one time during year, I could exceed that. Also, Modifying the data in wufoo is not a intuitive as blist is and soon would have been.
The one advantage to Wufoo is that it contacts me by email when someone posts an entry. This is the only complaint I had of blist. I found it difficult to determine when new entries where added even after visiting the site.
Keep me posted if "Medio"crata changes its toon. It was a nice program.

Inappropriate?Thank you everyone for understanding. I'll update this thread when I have more details on what the future of form widgets will be.
