"Control buttons" disappear when I open a new tab?

Just downloaded songbird, works great, loving surfing the net while still having the controls to change songs and view what's playing and who it's by at the bottom of the screen... Then I clicked something, or something happened, and that inch at the bottom of the window is gone! Why!? And I'm NOT talking about the content pane with the mashtape thingy or whatever. I mean the play/pause button, etc. Where did it go and how can I get it back? Also note that it's still there in the main library window, just not when I open new tabs.
