Crossfading for songbird
is it possible to make crossfading possible? also the speed of loading the next track is kina of slow. if i were to play a non-stop soundtrack. there are jams inbetween (i hope you understand)

You can track the comments on Crossfading by:
1. Going to the "people" box in the upper right hand corner of bug # 1274
2. Add your email in the "add cc" box
3. Scroll down and hit commit.

Well, crossfading is not gapless playback, so no, this has not been implemented yet.
Gapless Playback means no pause between two songs, crossfading means that the songs overlap, usually for customizable time between 1-5 seconds and with fade-in/out.
I hope crossfading will come soon, I miss this very much!

Inappropriate?yes i agree with the above post - i feel that some crossfade option is a must - i am very pleased with songbird at this time but look forward to a convenient plugin or addon that would enable crossfading - it will help make songbird compete to me as a live music fan and i feel that the user-friendly GUI added with some kind of gapless playback together will make this my favorite audio player
I’m curious to how soon this will be addressed, but thankful still.

Inappropriate?I also think this is some of the little things that show SongBird is still not as complete as it's competitors. I would really like something like this to be implemented.

Inappropriate?I just noticed, that this thread is associate with the fixed Bug 12093 in the Idea Kitchen.
This isn't completely correct, because the supporters of this thread here want Crossfading, not Gapless Playback (which is defined in Bug 12093 and already done).
Can anybody update that entry in the Ideas-Kitchen, please?

Eeek, well first of all sorry for giving some mixed up info above. I clearly misunderstood the request and look like I failed typing 101 as well...what is fread?!? But moving on, the way the Idea Kitchen code is designed it looks for the last linked bug in the thread and populates that to the idea kitchen. It was the only way we could come up with to display the bugs associated with topics which I thought was an important connection to make, however you have pointed out it's biggest flaw in that it can link to bad bugs. Inappropriate?I really feel that cross fading is the only thing keeping me from completely converting from amarok 1.4.. With recent addons (foldersync for my rockbox ipod) and the nowplaying addon (so i can get my playlist centric media player back) songbird smokes the competition in numerous ways. i hope it comes quick because 1.4 is aging and becoming less desirable to maintain on my system.

Inappropriate?@dennyelvis and Dahaniel, I wouldn't say there is a problem with it, it is logged as a feature request but as of yet it has not been scheduled. There were only 2 votes for it in Bugzilla, so I added the 90 votes for it here to that thread. I can't guarantee that will move it up in the developer queue right away but it doesn't hurt!
