Customizing the FIlter Pane in Songbird
How do i take away or add filter pane windows, for instance instead of genre artist and album i want to only have artist and album in my filter pane. (and if this is possible are these options set globally or for the specific playlist or library only)

Inappropriate?for now , that's a standard three filter's pane.
In older releases, I think, you could collapse filter panes.
It was difficult to open them back, so it was fixed. -

Three is nice, I just don't have a use for the third one :p

Inappropriate?I don't think customizing this pane is of a high priority right now. There are so many other features that we are trying to work on. However, that does not mean a community member couldn't create an add-on/feather for this functionality.

Inappropriate?I'd really like to be able to change the artist filter to album artist. It's really painful to try and view DJ compilations when you have tracks by a variety of artists but mixed by a single artist.2 Comments Add a comment

This is an often requested feature. Rest assured, you will have this functionality in a feature release or via an addon. -
Open a new tab, type "about:config" and find "songbird.library.filterset". This is a semi-colon delimited list that controls your filter panes. To add filtering by album artist, add "http://songbirdnest.com/data/1.0#albumArtistName" to your list and restart songbird.

Inappropriate?I would also love to be able to only have the album and artist panels on the filter view. it is currently the only big problem with songbird (and the outrageous memory use, currently 125mb).

Inappropriate?How many people use "Genre" to filter music - the definitions are generally unreliable at best. Making Genre as Must-Have is not a winning idea. Hacks me off anyway!

Inappropriate?I, too, second the motion for being able to delete/remove filter panes. I'd be stoked with just 'Artist' and 'View' and maybe 'Album Artist' as an option if i wanted it.
Also, using the newest version and memory is still a bitch! I have 4GB Ram, so it's "hardly" an issue, but if i want to use CS4 to do some work, i switch to itunes so i can have as much free/available mem as possible.
