jail bird...songbird won't work so i am stuck in an itunes prision

songbird worked for me then i installed the update on my mac and now it won't start up. it asks about extensions and when i origionally updated tried to rebuild the library, but never came up. i can hit play from the doc icon but i can't see songbird and have no access to the drop downs for songbird so i can't disable anything. i have taken songbird off and reinstalled it with the newest builds as well as the regular version, but get nothing.
help please
