Multiple Watch Directories
I suggest that Watch Folders be renamed as Directories
Also it should be possible to watch multiple folders, with check boxes to automatically watch for changes

Inappropriate? Also something i would like to see is a "don't watch this folder" inside a watched folder. For example under a artist that makes both songs and comic show if you don't want your random playing stopped by something else than music.
I’m amused
-
Inappropriate?I think Amarok has one of the best (multiple) watch folders option. There it is really intuitive to manage "don't watch" folders inside watched folders.
I’m irritated
-
Inappropriate?Agreed. Multiple watch folders with "don't-watch" parameters.
Here's hoping. -
Inappropriate?I think it just comes down to a general media folder management system inside the songbird gui (beyond watch, dont watch). If songbird could keep an organized folder tree and allow for Manipulation of that tree from within the gui it would be the holy grail.
Allow for: -organization of the directory tree via Metadata
-Automatically move imported songs and songs in "watched" folders into organized directory
-Sublibraries (for sorting), genre sorting is useless because the metrics for describing music are nearly never used (or used poorly) when the metadata is initially created. This is a better alternative for having a 2000 song "Techno" or "Rock" playlist.
Using a query box like the one used for smart playlists would allow for very simple yet very powerful organization tool for both the library and an overcrowded music directory.
I’m crossing my fingers
-
Inappropriate?Having just started using Songbird the inability to monitor multiple library folders is indeed a major downer for me. Since I have a lot of cross-platform content that serve several different DAP/PMP devices, keeping media type in its own folder has--up till now--proven to be very important, not the least in keeping my wits about me.
I’m hoping it happens
-
Inappropriate?Yes, please implement this! I really want to use songbird, but I can't without this feature.
-
Inappropriate?Yeah right now I'm using symbolic links to do this, and its a mess!
-
Inappropriate? This is the one thing for me that's stopping me giving Songbird another go.
-
Inappropriate? Please implement the recommendation as many users consider it as a MUST HAVE feature.

Inappropriate?Having Songbird having several watch folders is a great idea.
But what happens if one of the watch folders is on a external hard drive ? I would like to see the content of that watch folder to disappear if I unplug the HD. And, more importantly, plugging it would immediately display its contents.
"Immediately" means without having to scan the entire library again. Simply noticing the presence of the drive, updating the changes, and displaying it.
That would provide a comfort like in no other music player !
I’m excited

I think you've nailed it. Many people, like me, are using SB from a netbook, and rely on external drives for pretty much everything that's not lightweight. Please SB team! Implement this option! -
Inappropriate? How many people have to like this intuitive and established idea for something to be done about it? I see nothing on the roadmap..
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate?Yeah its not on the roadmap. Even though its a dead simple feature, I guess they figure you can just use Symbolic Links. To be honest Songbird is unable to index more than a few thousand tracks, so i think that is more important at the moment.
